If you get a little too woke, you might get accidentally homophobic. Or accused of it, at least.
Such is the case with former Vice President Kamala Harris, who admitted it was “too big a risk” to run with former Department of Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg in the 2024 election, presumably because Buttigieg is homosexual. (RELATED: Kamala’s Memoir Is So Bad, It’s Hard To Believe She Read It)
MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow asked Harris to “elaborate” on her decision not to pick Buttigieg as running mate.
“You’re the first woman elected vice president, you’re a black woman and a south asian woman … to say that [Buttigieg] couldn’t be on the ticket, effectively because he was gay, it’s hard to hear,” Maddow prompted.
Maddow presses Harris on Buttigieg: to say that he couldn’t be on the ticket effectively because he was gay. It’s hard to hear.

“No, no, no, that’s not what I said, that he couldn’t be on the ticket because he was gay,” Harris countered.
“To be a black woman running for president of the United States, and as a vice presidential running mate, a gay man, with the stakes being so high, it made me very sad, but I also realized it would be a real risk,” Harris elaborated.
Oh, okay. It wasn’t because Buttigieg was gay. It was just because he was gay.
“You know I’ve been an advocate and an ally of the LGBT community my entire life,” Harris told Maddow.
“To say the least,” Maddow agreed.
CNN reports that Kamala Harris’ favorability rating has plunged since the election.

“It wasn’t about any prejudice on my part,” Harris claimed, noting, “we had such a short period of time and the stakes were so high.”
Harris goes on to call Buttigieg a “phenomenal public servant”
“I think America is, and will be, ready for that but … when I had to make that decision with two weeks to go … maybe I was being too cautious … but that’s the decision I made,” she concludes. “As with everything else in the book I’m being very candid about that.”
We thank you for your honesty, Kamala. And your apparent commitment to further embarrassing yourself on the national stage.
