Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the former Democratic vice presidential candidate, appeared on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show for his first nationally televised interview since his election loss.

During the segment, Walz reflected on his defeat, acknowledged voter fatigue, and struggled to explain why he and Kamala Harris were overwhelmingly rejected by the American public.

Speaking with Rachel Maddow, Walz admitted that many Democratic voters remain discouraged following the election results.

“You know that overused term, ‘The frog in the boiling water?’ We’ve been in the damn pot way too long,” Walz said.

“I think it is speaking up. It’s thinking about your neighbors. It’s writing and putting those members of Congress – look, there is no spine amongst those folks – but this is real.”

He went on to describe the disappointment within his party.

“To the voters, I’m with this too. Everybody’s fatigued. Trust me, I get it,” Walz continued.

“It was pure hell, and the disappointment and the frustration, and I’m, you know, soul-searching – what could we have done to make the case? Because we knew this was coming.”

“We knew the implication. And they’re throwing so much at us that we’re fatigued.”

Throughout the interview, Walz appeared visibly frustrated when discussing President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, pausing at times before answering Maddow’s questions.

In the interview, Walz also repeated a debunked claim about X (formerly Twitter) CEO Elon Musk, alleging that Musk made a Nazi salute during Trump’s inauguration speech.

“You know, we spent three days, you know, debating … trying to debate that President Musk gave a Nazi salute — of course he did!” Walz claimed.

I think I will.

The claim had already been dismissed as false, with Musk placing his hand on his chest and extending it outward to the crowd while speaking about dedicating himself to the American people.

Even the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) rejected the accusation, yet Walz continued to promote the hoax.

This is a delicate moment. It’s a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.

It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on…

By Tim Walz’ own standards, some would say he’s a Nazi as well…

Despite his frustration over the election loss, Walz urged Democrats to remain focused and not be distracted by Republican policies.

“Surround yourself with people who understand this, and recognize the things they went after today are basically a big chunk of what society does, and people like to have clean water, and hospitals, and safety, and roads, and airports, all the things that they are going after,” Walz stated.

“We have to find that voice. We have to push back. We have to be organized.”

Walz’s post-election interviews have consistently reflected confusion about the loss.

Speaking with KSTP-TV, a local Minnesota station, he admitted he was surprised by the results, believing that their campaign had momentum heading into Election Day.

“It felt like at the rallies, at the things I was going to, the shops I was going in, that the momentum was going our way, and it obviously wasn’t at the end,” Walz said.

“So yeah, I was a little surprised. I thought we had a positive message, and I thought the country was ready for that.”

Tim Walz has a case of the sads – Blames Americans for not voting for him and Kamala.

“I thought that they were going to probably move towards a more positive message.”

As Walz continues to search for answers, the reality remains that the American people soundly rejected the Democratic ticket in favor of Trump and Vance.

With Republicans in control for the next four years, Democrats appear to be grappling with their electoral failures while struggling to find a new strategy moving forward.
