MSNBC’s ‘Toilet’ Ratings ‘No Accident,’ ‘Biggest Losers At The Party’ – Megyn Kelly [WATCH]
On Monday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, host Megyn Kelly discussed the recent announcement by Comcast to spin off several of its cable channels, including MSNBC, and connected the network’s falling ratings to its current reputation.
MSNBC has seen a sharp decline in its viewership, with ratings dropping 53% after President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
Kelly made it clear that the ratings collapse was no accident, calling it a direct result of the network’s current approach to news coverage.

Kelly referred to a clip of MSNBC’s Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough, in which he claimed that critics of the press have become emboldened to “lie” about the media, repeatedly asserting that what the corporate media does “matters.”
In response, Kelly said, “Joy Reid was literally saying that if Trump won, they were going to start locking up brown people. So maybe spare me on the lectures of, ‘You stir people up and then make money.’ It’s no accident that MSNBC’s ratings are in the toilet.” She emphasized that the decision to spin off MSNBC was not just about the network’s financial struggles but also about its damaged reputation.
“They’re being spun off because reputationally they’re a nightmare for Comcast and NBC. These are the biggest losers at the party with their little pocket squares, and they’ve been spun off to go sit in the part with the non-alcohol punch,” Kelly continued. She pointed out that despite their current struggles, MSNBC’s leadership still insists on their importance. “They’re still trying to tell us, Steve, that they’re the main people at the party and they matter. ‘There’s no prom king without me!’”
Kelly also took aim at Axios CEO Jim VandeHei, who appeared in the clip with Scarborough and criticized “opinionated influencers” for building followings on X.
Kelly responded by slamming MSNBC hosts for their consistent controversial remarks, particularly Joy Reid, who she accused of spewing “racist tropes” about Trump. “That’s it. That’s all she does is spew racism about Donald Trump. Not to mention the rest of their pathetic lineup. We should be looking at them as the credible ones?” Kelly said.
Kelly also expressed frustration with the mainstream media’s criticism of digital platforms like X and independent commentators who are gaining popularity. “It’s very irritating to them that there are people on X who have a platform and people in the digital lane like us that have a platform that others are listening to because that’s not factual, you see,” she remarked. “By the way, many of us are reporters, are journalists and would put our credentials up against anyone up and down that lineup any day of the week.”
Kelly’s comments come after the November 18 announcement by Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski that they had visited Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate for the first time in several years and expressed interest in “restarting communications” with him.
While the visit sparked backlash, Scarborough and Brzezinski later claimed to have received a handful of “supportive” phone calls.
Before Trump’s election victory, Scarborough, Brzezinski, and other guests on Morning Joe had been vocal critics of the former president.
They frequently compared Trump to Adolf Hitler and ramped up the rhetoric against him, with Scarborough declaring on September 23 that Trump represented the single biggest “threat to democracy since the Civil War.”
