Elon Musk publicly expressed regret Wednesday over a series of social media posts he directed at President Donald Trump, signaling a shift in tone after a heated exchange between the two high-profile figures in recent weeks, as reported by Fox News.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk posted on X.

Musk’s remarks follow a stretch of increasingly hostile commentary he aimed at Trump, including claims that the president was listed in Justice Department records related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation — a post Musk later deleted.
He also accused Trump of “ingratitude” for allegedly not acknowledging Musk’s past political support, and even suggested that Trump should be impeached and replaced by Vice President J.D. Vance.
At the center of the conflict was Trump’s “big beautiful” spending bill, which Musk sharply criticized after his efforts to cut waste during his tenure at the Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk, who has since exited his advisory role in the Trump administration, claimed the bill failed to rein in federal expenditures and eliminated favored electric vehicle incentives.
Trump responded to Musk’s criticisms in multiple public statements and media appearances. Speaking with Fox News last week, the president said, “Elon’s totally lost it,” and expressed disappointment over the billionaire’s public attacks.
In comments made in the Oval Office, Trump stated, “He had no problem with the bill until electric vehicle incentives were cut.”
In a post on social media, Trump added, “Elon was ‘wearing thin.’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted… and he just went CRAZY!”

However, tensions between the two appear to be easing. On Monday, Trump acknowledged the prior relationship, saying, “We had a great relationship and I wish him well — very well, actually.”
Musk replied to a clip of that comment with a heart emoji.
The thaw continued as Musk shared Trump’s criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass regarding their response to ongoing anti-ICE protests and civil unrest.
“These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists,” Trump wrote — a post Musk amplified on X.
Musk also reacted to posts from Vice President Vance, signaling a possible realignment after weeks of public friction.
