Elon Musk intensified his criticism of  Trump White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Tuesday, calling him a “moron” and “dumber than a sack of bricks” in a post on X, as reported by The New York Post.

The Tesla CEO’s comments followed Navarro’s appearance on CNBC Monday, during which Navarro claimed that Musk “is not a car manufacturer” but rather “a car assembler.”

FILE – Tesla CEO Elon Musk speaks at the “Cyber Rodeo” grand opening celebration for the new $1.1 billion Tesla Giga Texas manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas, on April 7, 2022. Musk claimed in an August 7, 2018 tweet that he had lined up the financing to pay for a $72 billion buyout of Tesla, which he then amplified with a follow-up statement that made a deal seem imminent. But the buyout never materialized and now Musk will have to explain his actions under oath in a federal court in San Francisco on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023.

Musk responded forcefully, defending Tesla’s manufacturing credentials and challenging Navarro’s assertions.

In another post, he added, “Tesla has the most American-made cars. Navarro is dumber than a sack of bricks.”

Musk went on to explain Tesla’s domestic production dominance, stating, “By any definition whatsoever, Tesla is the most vertically integrated auto manufacturer in America with the highest percentage of US content.”

He also referenced Navarro’s fictional character “Ron Vara,” saying, “Navarro should ask the fake expert he invented, Ron Vara.”

The public feud escalated over the weekend, beginning with Musk’s reaction to the latest round of tariffs announced last week. The policy moves, which reportedly involved significant input from Navarro, appeared to provoke Musk’s ire.

On Saturday, Musk took to X to question Navarro’s qualifications, writing that his Harvard education “is a bad thing, not a good thing.”

Results in the ego/brains>>1 problem.

That post prompted Navarro to fire back, accusing Musk of trying to protect his own business interests by opposing Trump’s tariff approach.

Navarro, a key economic advisor in the Trump administration, played a major role in shaping the United States’ trade policies, including the implementation of tariffs targeting foreign manufacturing.

The recent measures have reignited debates over their impact on American companies, including electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla.

Musk, who oversees not just Tesla but also SpaceX and other ventures, has increasingly used social media to voice opposition to federal policies he believes hurt U.S. innovation and manufacturing competitiveness.

Tesla’s vehicles have consistently topped rankings for American-made content and domestic assembly.

As of now, neither Navarro nor representatives for the Trump team have issued any formal response to Musk’s latest string of comments.
