Naked Fleeing Suspect Arrested After Crash, Alleged Carjacking Attempt on Sacramento-Area Freeway [WATCH]

Authorities in Northern California arrested a man Thursday after a crash and an attempted carjacking along Highway 99 outside Sacramento that ended with the suspect being taken into custody while naked, as reported by The New York Post.

The incident occurred in Elk Grove, a city located just south of Sacramento, when the suspect crashed his vehicle along the side of Highway 99.

The crash caused the vehicle to roll over before coming to a stop on the side of the roadway, according to reporting from KCRA.

After the crash, the man exited the wrecked vehicle and began walking away from the scene.

Authorities said the suspect then attempted to steal another driver’s vehicle nearby.

Details about the interaction between the suspect and the driver were not immediately released, but the attempt to take the vehicle prompted law enforcement to respond to the area.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol arrived at the scene and located the suspect not far from the crash site.

When officers encountered the man, they discovered he was completely naked.

Images captured from an aerial news helicopter showed the suspect partially nude as officers escorted him toward a patrol vehicle. Law enforcement personnel placed the man under arrest at the scene.

Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect.

Officials also have not provided information about what may have caused the initial crash or why the suspect removed his clothing before being taken into custody.

The sequence of events leading up to the attempted carjacking remains under investigation.
