Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem issued a firm warning this week following a series of swatting attacks targeting conservative media figures and commentators.
Noem pledged that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will use its investigative capabilities to identify and prosecute those responsible.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, we will not sit idly by as conservative new media and their families are being targeted by false swatting,” Noem said in a public statement posted to X. “DHS has the ability to trace phone numbers and track location information. We will use it to hunt these cowards down.”

Swatting refers to the act of falsely reporting a violent crime in order to prompt a heavily armed police response to a targeted individual’s residence.
The incidents often place the victims and law enforcement in dangerous situations based on fabricated threats.
In the past week, more than a dozen individuals affiliated with conservative media and political circles have reported being swatted, according to Breitbart News.
The incidents appear to have begun on the evening of March 11.
InfoWars reporter Chase Geiser was one of the first to speak out. In a March 12 post on X, Geiser detailed the incident, stating that six to eight police officers used a public address system to order him out of his home.
“I was handcuffed in the middle of the street, presumably at gunpoint, though I couldn’t tell because of the light being shined on my face,” Geiser wrote.
“I was then led into the house where my wife was woken up and we were informed that they received a call from someone pretending to be me and threatening to kill my family.”
On the evening of March 13, independent journalist Nick Sortor also reported that his family had been targeted.
He shared that his sister had received a threatening email prior to the swatting incident.

Yes — my family and I were swatted. This is how it went down. Including the video I saw on my front door camera at 2:35am. How would you have reacted?

The surge in incidents has raised concerns about the use of swatting as a form of political intimidation.
Law enforcement agencies responding to these calls are typically unaware that the information is false until they arrive on scene, increasing the risk of harm to both officers and innocent civilians.
The Department of Homeland Security has not yet confirmed whether a single source or coordinated group is behind the recent attacks, but Secretary Noem’s comments indicate that federal investigations are underway.
The victims targeted in these incidents have largely been public supporters of President Trump or have engaged in conservative political commentary on social media platforms.
No arrests have been announced at this time, but DHS has stated it is utilizing location-tracking tools and phone-tracing technologies in its efforts to identify the individuals responsible for making the false emergency reports.
As the investigation continues, Secretary Noem has reassured those targeted that the department is treating the matter seriously and intends to pursue criminal charges where applicable.
