President Donald Trump reacted to Europe’s latest pitch on the Israel-Hamas war on Tuesday, saying the United States was not in the “camp” of pressuring Israel on a two-state solution.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Tuesday that the United Kingdom will recognize a Palestinian state if Israel does not agree to peace in the Gaza strip by September. Trump told reporters later on Tuesday that, while he met with Starmer, they did not discuss the move, and he has no stance on it.
“We never did discuss it. We have no view on that. We’re going to get a lot of money to the [Gaza Strip] so they can get some food. He’s going to also. I think the European Union is going to put up money, too, for food and hopefully it’s going to be properly distributed and it will be. I think it will be. We have some pretty good response on people for the distribution of the food,” Trump told reporters. (RELATED: US Reportedly Burned Through Quarter Of Critical Missile Interceptors In Israel Defense)
Trump told reporters on Air Force One that Starmer didn’t discuss with him in their meeting yesterday the issue of recognition of Palestine and said he has no voew about it. Trump claimed that pressure on Israel right now rewards Hamas and said the U.S. “is not in that camp” https://t.co/zBffQJSon0

“To follow up on that, is there any use at all in pressuring Israel now to come to some sort of longer term solution?” a reporter asked.
“You could make the case that you are rewarding people, that you are rewarding Hamas if you do that ,and I don’t think they should be rewarded,” Trump said. “So, uh, I’m not in that camp, to be honest. We will let you know where we are, but I am not in that camp.”

The U.K. would make their position official during the United Nations General Assembly in September, similar to France, Starmer said. Stramer added that they would reconsider their position if Israel takes “substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza and commits to a long term sustainable peace, agreeing to a ceasefire, and making clear there will be no annexations in the West Bank.”
As the conflict in the Middle East continues, Trump contradicted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday after the prime minister said there was “no starvation” in Gaza.
“Based on television … those children look very hungry,” Trump told the press. “But we’re giving a lot of money and a lot of food, and other nations are now stepping up.”
