NYPD Arrests Suspect After Christmas Eve Stabbings at Grand Central [WATCH]

A suspect was taken into custody following two separate knife attacks at the Grand Central-42nd Street Station in New York City on Christmas Eve.

The assaults occurred within minutes of each other, leaving two victims injured, according to police and law enforcement sources.

The first incident took place around 10:15 p.m. near the southbound entrance of the station.

The suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, got into an argument with a 42-year-old man on the stairs and slashed him across the left wrist, police said.

After the initial attack, the suspect fled up the stairs and became involved in another altercation, this time with a 26-year-old woman near a turnstile.

The suspect slashed the woman on the neck before fleeing the scene.

Witnesses alerted officers to the suspect’s movements following the second attack.

One victim is an employee at the Roosevelt Hotel. She was stabbed in the neck and was taken to the hospital.

Police apprehended the individual as he attempted to escape via an escalator and recovered a knife believed to have been used in the assaults.

Both victims were transported to Bellevue Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and are reported to be in stable condition.

The NYPD confirmed that a person of interest is in custody but stated that no charges have been filed as of yet.

Sources revealed that the suspect has a prior criminal history, including arrests for criminal mischief, fare evasion, and assaulting a police officer.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attacks. It is unclear if the suspect knew either of the victims or if the incidents were random.

The assaults mark another violent episode on New York City’s transit system, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety in public transportation hubs.
