President Donald Trump wants Congress to send him the Big, Beautiful Bill by July 4th for his signature. Trump likely sees this as the perfect moment to utilize the patriotism of Independence Day to bolster support for his bill, which will cut ties with several Democrat wishlist items, while also funding important national security programs.
Still, there’s a problem getting it over the line, as it’s currently being gutted in the U.S. Senate by a bureaucrat who was installed in 2012 by a Democrat famous for breaking norms to benefit his party. Even worse, Republican Senate leadership is letting her do it.
