Paranormal Investigator Dan Rivera Dies During Haunted ‘Annabelle’ Doll Tour in Gettysburg, PA [WATCH]

Paranormal investigator Dan Rivera died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 14, while on tour with the infamous Annabelle doll.

Rivera, 54, was in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of a sold-out event hosted at the Soldiers National Orphanage by Ghostly Images of Gettysburg Tours, as reported by The New York Post.

His death was confirmed by the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), where he served as lead investigator.

Emergency responders were called to Rivera’s hotel room Sunday night. CPR was administered, but he was later pronounced dead. The exact cause of death has not been released.

Rivera, a U.S. Army veteran, was known for his work in the paranormal field and had appeared on the Travel Channel’s “Most Haunted Places.”

He also worked behind the scenes on paranormal-themed shows, including Netflix’s “28 Days Haunted.”

In recent years, Rivera helped promote NESPR events through social media platforms such as TikTok, where his content went viral and helped introduce younger audiences to the legacy of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Rivera had just completed a three-day appearance in Gettysburg, one of the tour stops on the “Devils on the Run Tour,” where he traveled with fellow NESPR members and the Annabelle doll.

Annabelle, a Raggedy Ann doll, is known in paranormal circles for alleged hauntings dating back to 1970 when it was given to a Connecticut nursing student named Donna.

The Warrens claimed the doll demonstrated supernatural behavior, including levitating, following people around, and, in some instances, harming individuals.

Ed and Lorraine Warren, founders of NESPR in 1952, investigated numerous cases involving alleged hauntings, including the Amityville Horror house and the Annabelle doll.

Their experiences inspired the “The Conjuring” film franchise, now the highest-grossing horror movie series globally.

Following the deaths of Ed in 2006 and Lorraine in 2019, their daughter Judy and son-in-law Tony Spera took over the NESPR and the Warrens’ occult museum in Connecticut.

Though the museum was closed to the public in 2019 due to zoning issues, the organization continued touring the country with the artifacts, including the Annabelle doll.

In May, conspiracy theories circulated online linking Annabelle to a prison escape and fire in Louisiana that coincided with the doll’s tour stop in New Orleans. Spera denied the claims, telling The Post that the doll was never “out of our control.”

Rivera is survived by his wife, Sarah, and their four children. Fellow paranormal investigator Ryan Buell shared a tribute, writing, “Just as recently as two months ago, we traveled around the country and introduced a whole new generation to Ed and Lorraine Warren’s legacy.”
