A man who flew on an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner just two hours before it crashed, killing more than 200 people, shared a video that appears to show serious onboard malfunctions, as reported by The New York Post.

The passenger, Akash Vatsa, posted footage to social media describing in-flight issues, including non-functioning air conditioning, broken display screens, and unresponsive crew call buttons.

Vatsa took the video during Flight AI423 from Delhi to Ahmedabad on Thursday morning. The same aircraft later departed from Ahmedabad en route to London’s Gatwick Airport, where it crashed shortly after takeoff.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured smoke or dust trailing from the plane seconds before it disappeared behind buildings and then exploded in a fireball.

“I was in the same damn flight two hours before it took off from Ahmedabad,” Vatsa wrote on X. “Noticed unusual things in the plane.”

In the video, he can be heard stating, “The AC is not working at all. And, as usual, your TV screens are also not working, neither is this button for calling the cabin crew.”

He added, “I am sweating like hell,” citing the lack of air circulation in the cabin. Vatsa also mentioned that he recorded the video in order to share the evidence with Air India later. Additional footage shows what appear to be loose seat parts and other maintenance issues.

In another post, Vatsa shared an image of his boarding pass for seat 25A, confirming he was aboard the flight earlier that day. That seat is located 14 rows behind seat 11A, where survivor Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was seated during the doomed flight.

Ramesh, according to the Hindustan Times, was found limping in the street after the crash but survived without major injuries.

The crash occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. Although the exact cause has not been officially confirmed, preliminary reports suggest a technical fault may have developed during takeoff.

Air India has not issued a comment on the claims made in the video or the maintenance of the aircraft involved.

Vatsa also noted that he refused to fly back to Delhi on Air India later that evening following the crash.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Meanwhile, scrutiny is increasing over the maintenance practices and safety standards of Air India’s long-haul aircraft.
