FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed on Friday that his residence was targeted in a swatting incident the previous day.

The revelation came during a conversation with podcast host Joe Rogan on The Joe Rogan Experience, where Patel described the security threat and expressed concern over what he called a double standard in the treatment of political figures.

“My house just got swatted yesterday,” Patel told Rogan during the interview.

Trump’s Sovereign Wealth Fund: What Could It Mean For Your Money?

Swatting refers to the act of falsely reporting a serious emergency—such as a hostage situation or violent crime—in order to prompt an armed response from law enforcement to a target’s home.

The tactic has increasingly been used against public officials, political commentators, and online figures, with many calling it a dangerous and potentially deadly form of harassment.

Rogan appeared surprised by the disclosure, asking Patel to confirm that he was, in fact, the current FBI director and had still been targeted.

Patel confirmed his role and stated that the incident had occurred on Thursday.

“Yeah. It’s the ultimate height of hypocrisy. They have two sets of rules. One against you, one for them,” Patel said, referring to what he described as unequal application of justice and accountability depending on political alignment.

What on earth?! FBI Director Kash Patel tells Joe Rogan that his house just got swatted:

PATEL: “My house just got swatted yesterday.”

JOE ROGAN: “The head of the FBI gets swatted?”

The FBI has not released an official statement regarding the swatting incident at Patel’s residence.

No further details about the call, the response from law enforcement, or the current status of any investigation have been made public.

Swatting has become a high-profile concern in recent years, particularly as political tensions have increased across the country.

Earlier this year, several members of Congress were also targeted in similar incidents.

Among them was Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., who was swatted multiple times in a series of separate incidents.

Greene has called for stronger penalties for those who make false emergency reports, especially when used to intimidate or endanger public officials.

Lawmakers across party lines have condemned the practice and called for legislation to deter such attacks.

Some jurisdictions have begun to classify false emergency reports leading to swatting incidents as felonies due to the serious risks posed to both the targeted individual and responding officers.

The incident at Patel’s home raises additional concerns given his role as the head of the FBI.

Patel was appointed FBI Director under President Donald Trump following the conclusion of the 2024 election.

He previously served in various national security and intelligence roles, including as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense and as Deputy Assistant to the President for Counterterrorism.

During his appearance on Rogan’s podcast, Patel did not speculate on the identity or motive of the individual who placed the false call, but he did suggest the act reflected broader problems with political targeting and selective enforcement.

The swatting incident remains under investigation.

No arrests have been announced, and law enforcement has not publicly identified any suspects.
