Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed strong opposition to President Donald Trump’s recent deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles, criticizing the decision as politically motivated and “hypocritical” in light of her longstanding grievances over the events of January 6, 2021.

Speaking in an interview published Monday by Crooked Media’s “What A Day” podcast, Rep. Pelosi, 85, addressed Trump’s move to mobilize federal troops in response to escalating violence in Los Angeles following a series of workplace immigration enforcement raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The demonstrations led to property damage, vandalism, and clashes with law enforcement, prompting the President to authorize troop support over the weekend.

President Trump defended the action, stating that the deployment was necessary to prevent further destruction in the city.

“Los Angeles would’ve been completely obliterated if we didn’t act,” he said during remarks from the White House on Monday.

Pelosi, however, criticized the decision and drew a sharp contrast between Trump’s response to the recent Los Angeles unrest and his actions during the January 6 Capitol riot.

“It’s overwhelming because [the insurrectionists] want to put a bullet in my F**king head and they were going to hang the vice president of the United States — and this guy is not sending in the National Guard, and then lying about it to the public,” Pelosi told What A Day.

“It’s overwhelming because [the insurrectionists] want to put a bullet in my F-word head… I’m very concerned about the hypocrisy.”

The California lawmaker added that Trump’s deployment in Los Angeles has “inflamed the conditions on the ground” and accused the President of failing to act constitutionally.

“I don’t think there’s any mystery to the fact that the president is not acting in the constitutional way, in so many other respects, not just this,” she said.

OMFG!!! 🤯

This hag has the nerve to flat out lie! Pelosi is the one who denied NG along w Mayor Bowser!

Pelosi’s comments revisited the longstanding debate over the January 6 response, when hundreds of individuals breached the U.S. Capitol during the joint session of Congress.

Trump has maintained that he offered up to 10,000 National Guard troops ahead of January 6, but the offer was declined by House leadership and local officials.

This claim has remained a point of contention between lawmakers and the President’s administration.

In documentary footage captured during the Capitol riot, Pelosi acknowledged a lack of adequate preparation for the potential unrest, saying at the time, “I take responsibility.”

The recent unrest in Los Angeles stemmed from ICE operations targeting individuals with final deportation orders.

The raids prompted demonstrations in both downtown Los Angeles and nearby working-class neighborhoods. While the protests began peacefully, authorities reported multiple incidents of vandalism, arson, and assault on federal officers.

The Trump administration responded by activating the National Guard and later authorized additional support from the U.S. Marines to secure federal facilities.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have both criticized the federal deployment.

Newsom formally requested that the White House rescind the order, calling it a breach of state authority.

Despite the opposition from state and local leaders, the National Guard remains active in parts of Los Angeles, assisting with crowd control, protecting federal property, and supporting local law enforcement agencies. Additional units are expected to remain in place as ICE operations continue.

Pelosi did not address whether she believes federal troops should be withdrawn from the area but reiterated her concern over what she called a “double standard” in the federal government’s use of military support in domestic situations.
