Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the United States and Israel are expected to establish full control of Iranian airspace as part of an ongoing military operation targeting Iran’s missile capabilities and military infrastructure.

Hegseth described the planned aerial dominance during remarks outlining how the operation is expected to unfold in the coming days.

“Starting last night and to be completed in a few days, in under a week, the two most powerful air forces in the world will have complete control of Iranian skies, uncontested airspace,” Hegseth said.

According to Hegseth, the campaign will involve sustained air operations over Iranian territory, including missions targeting military installations and leadership associated with the Iranian armed forces.

“I hope all the folks watching understand what uncontested airspace and complete control means,” Hegseth said.

“It means we will fly all day, all night, day and night, finding, fixing and finishing the missiles and defense industrial base of the Iranian military, finding and fixing their leaders and their military leaders, flying over Tehran, flying over Iran, flying over their capital, flying over the IRGC Iranian leaders, looking up and seeing only us and Israeli air power every minute of every day, until we decide it’s over and Iran will be able to do nothing about it.”

The operation described by Hegseth would involve a wide range of U.S. and allied aircraft operating across Iranian airspace.

Hegseth said several aircraft platforms and unmanned systems are expected to participate in the campaign.

“B2s, B52s, B1s, Predator drones, fighters, controlling the skies, picking targets, death and destruction from the sky, all day long,” Hegseth said.
