A New Hampshire woman, Margaret Jasmin, was fatally stabbed at her home on May 18.

A 9-year-old child, believed to be the son of both Margaret and Reya Jasmin, was present in the home at the time but was unharmed.

The child has since been removed from the home and is in protective custody.

Court documents released by the New Hampshire DOJ state that Reya Jasmin “recklessly caused the death” of Margaret Jasmin.

Initially, the DOJ referred to Reya Jasmin by male identifiers in its public release but later amended the language to match Jasmin’s gender identity, referring to the suspect as “her.”

Reya Jasmin, formerly known as David Mark Jasmin, began transitioning in 2017 and started hormone therapy the following year.

According to online posts, Margaret also began the gender transition process after Reya, although later reports suggest he became disapproving of the change.

The Maine Wire reported that the incident may have been an attempted murder-suicide, citing the initial language used in the DOJ release and the physical injuries sustained by Reya Jasmin.

However, official details regarding the suspect’s injuries and the motive remain under investigation.

Reya Jasmin had been involved in local community outreach as a self-described transgender advocate.

In 2021, Jasmin headlined an event at the Plaistow Public Library titled “Ask a Transgender Woman Anything,” aimed at promoting dialogue and understanding.

At the time, the couple’s child was three years old.

Social media activity reveals that both Margaret and Reya maintained an online presence.

Margaret, under the username “Magsalicious,” posted an image of a Pride flag with the phrase “f*ck around and find out.”

Reya’s TikTok and LinkedIn profiles reflected an active engagement in transgender issues, body transition updates, and polyamorous lifestyle discussions.

On TikTok, Jasmin described their gender as “lifting with acrylics” and listed pronouns as “they/she.”

On LinkedIn, Jasmin was listed as a software engineer advocating for “more equitable transportation.”

Reddit posts attributed to Jasmin describe tension in the marriage, particularly surrounding the transition and the shift to a polyamorous lifestyle.

In one post, Jasmin wrote, “Her husband is dead and she hates the person who replaced him,” referring to Margaret’s reaction to the transition. Jasmin also wrote that Margaret, though once identifying as an “intersectional feminist,” became “transphobic” when confronted with Jasmin’s gender identity.

Jasmin also discussed introducing another woman into their marriage and detailed medical updates, including a vaginoplasty.

Some posts were accompanied by graphic images, which received supportive comments from users online.

A Bluesky profile linked to Reya Jasmin reads: “Trans woman, polyam, happily married with an amazing kiddo. she/her/ BLM, ACAB.”

In a post from nine months ago, Jasmin wrote: “After quite a challenging few weeks, I’m going to a dungeon tonight and getting my ass kicked. Gonna be fun as f—. No dynamic play, just pain.”

Reya Jasmin is currently being held without bail and has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not released further information regarding potential additional charges.

The case has drawn attention due to the complex personal history between the couple and the broader discussion surrounding gender identity in public discourse.
