‘Pro-Palestinian’ Activists Take Over McGill University in Montreal

It’s not an accident that the latest campus uprising is happening in Montreal, Canada instead of at a school here in the US. With universities finally expelling and suspending some of the worst offenders under pressure from the Trump administration, the pro-Hamas activists are finally realizing there may be a price to pay for their behavior.

But President Trump can’t cut funds to McGill University in Montreal no matter what the protesters there do. They can run rampant under the assumption that nothing of any real consequence will happen to them so that’s what they are doing.

Pro-Palestinian protesters threw paint and shattered glass inside McGill University’s McConnell Engineering Building on Thursday, marking an escalation on the second day of a three-day student strike. 

The vandalism occurred as demonstrators marched through campus and entered the engineering building, followed closely by riot police. A university spokesperson confirmed the damage took place inside the McConnell building…

No arrests were made, the spokesperson said.

It’s not just vandalism that is taking place. The students promoting this 3-day strike are also disrupting classes and telling students to go home.

One of the groups behind this is promoting this as a voluntary strike, i.e. students do not attend classes for 3 days as a form of protest. 

But as the video above shows, the strike doesn’t seem to be entirely voluntary. In fact, the strikers are blocking access to classrooms for those who want to continue attending classes.

They also put out a call to identify any professors who were continuing to teach. Do you think maybe they intend this as a threat? I do.

On Wednesday, a form that circulated among students, titled “Report Your Non-Compliant Prof,” asked for class times, room numbers, and screenshots of professors’ messages regarding those teachers who continued to teach during the student strike.

The page to report “non-compliant” professors is still up. Riot police were brought in yesterday but, as mentioned above, no arrests were made.

Instead, police said their job was to keep the pro-Hamas protesters and the anti-Hamas protesters from interacting. This really isn’t complicated. Chaos will continue until someone in Montreal treats criminal behavior as criminal behavior.

Today is the last day of the planned strike. I guess we’ll see if McGill University decides to do anything at all to regain control of the campus.
