A seemingly simple prom dress sale turned into an all-out street fight at a Georgia gas station, proving once again that bad decisions and criminal behavior go hand in hand.
The bizarre brawl saw one suspect body-slammed onto the pavement after trying to put the victim in a chokehold—all over a dress, as reported by The New York Post.
The chaos unfolded at a RaceTrac gas station in Gwinnett County, about 30 miles outside Atlanta, when 18-year-old seller met her former friend, 20-year-old Morgan Flinchum, for what should have been a straightforward sale.

The dress originally belonged to Flinchum, but the seller’s mother had contributed to the cost, so the victim was in possession of it. Flinchum wanted to buy it outright, so they arranged the meeting.
When the victim arrived, Flinchum asked to try the dress on in the gas station’s bathroom. Seemed innocent enough—until the victim stepped inside and realized she was walking into a trap.
Another accomplice was waiting in the bathroom, snatched the dress, and bolted.

The victim wasn’t about to let it slide. She chased down the thief and managed to grab hold, but that’s when things spiraled into a full-blown melee near the gas pumps.

Her boyfriend jumped in, wrestling the stolen dress back from the attackers, but the fight wasn’t over yet.
Security footage captured the brutal altercation as multiple suspects ganged up on the victim. At one point, one of the attackers wrapped the smaller victim in a chokehold from behind—a move that backfired spectacularly.
The victim flipped the aggressor over her back and slammed her hard onto the pavement, delivering a dose of street justice before authorities arrived.

Gwinnett County Police responded, reviewed the surveillance footage, and wasted no time in tracking down the suspects. Flinchum and her accomplices, Kaylee George and Lelia DeJager, all turned themselves in.
Flinchum and DeJager now face battery and theft charges, while George was charged with theft by taking. Not exactly a glamorous end to their attempted prom dress heist.
Cpl. Juan Madiedo of the Gwinnett County Police Department summed it up plainly:
“I would say it’s not normally something we have to investigate, an argument over a prom dress.”
Authorities used the incident as a cautionary tale, reminding people to conduct in-person sales in secure locations.
Gwinnett County has designated e-commerce parking spots under surveillance at all police precincts—something the victim and her attackers clearly should have considered.
“If you’re looking to make a transaction, sell any items or purchase an item online, meet that person at one of our designated e-commerce locations,” Madiedo advised.
While the suspects might be out on bond soon, their reputation is permanently stained—probably worse than that dress they fought so hard to steal.
