Fox News reported new emails that appear to contradict prior claims that the Biden White House had no involvement in the Justice Department’s investigation into President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents and the subsequent FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago.
“BREAKING tonight, a Fox News exclusive,” anchor Bret Baier said.
“We have new information that appears to directly contradict the Biden administration’s insistence it had nothing to do with the Justice Department investigations into then former President Trump’s alleged retention of classified material and the subsequent raid on his Mar-a-Lago home. Correspondent David Spunt has details tonight. Good evening, David.”

Correspondent David Spunt outlined the findings. “Brett, good evening to you,” Spunt said.
“These emails obtained by Fox News paint a different picture of the relationship between the Biden White House and the Biden Justice Department.”
Spunt noted that at the time of the investigation, both offices publicly maintained distance from one another.
“These two offices made it clear at the time, at least publicly, they were not connected and stayed away from any political interference,” he said.

However, he said newly obtained communications suggest otherwise.
“However, new emails obtained by Fox News from May 2022, three months before Mar-a-Lago was raided by the FBI, illustrates coordination between the White House Counsel’s Office and the DOJ regarding an interview of Walt Nauta,” Spunt reported.
Spunt explained that Walt Nada, now a White House aide to President Trump, previously served as an aide in Florida.
“Now remember, Walt Nauta is a current White House aide to President Trump who was then former President Trump aide in Florida,” Spunt said.
“Nauta was later charged alongside Trump by Special Counsel Jack Smith.”
Spunt read from a May 10, 2022 email. “Coordination with DOJ and White House Counsel are in work to start the process to confirm and interview current administration employee, Walt Nauta,” the email stated.
It continued, “This event is dependent upon the timeline of President Biden’s brief decision and coordination between White House Counsel and DOJ, and in turn, Evan Corcoran position on the override of privileged assertion and whether or not he seeks an injunction to prevent access.”
Spunt added context to the message.
“That was written by an FBI agent and Evan Corcoran, of course, one of Trump’s lawyers at the time,” he said.
Spunt noted that the upcoming anniversary marks a significant milestone.
“This coming August, Bret will mark four years since FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago,” he said.
“A few days after that, then Attorney General Merrick Garland said this.”
A video clip aired of Merrick Garland addressing the decision to seek a search warrant.
“I personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter,” Garland said.
“Second, the department does not take such a decision lightly.”
Spunt said the newly revealed emails have prompted reaction on Capitol Hill and from current Justice Department leadership.
“And we’re getting new reaction to these emails,” Spunt said.
“Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and the House says, in part, it’s always worse than we thought. These newly released documents confirm that the Biden DOJ is raid on Mar a Lago was politically motivated.”
Spunt also cited comments from Attorney General Pam Bondi. “We’re also hearing from Attorney General Pam Bondi,” he said.
“AG Bondi says the more we learn about the DOJ weaponization under the prior administration, the worse the story gets.”
Spunt highlighted Bondi’s commitment to further disclosures.
“And Brett, she says it’s right here. It’s a key part,” Spunt said.
“She says we will continue disclosing key evidence to our congressional partners to deliver the truth and bring those who committed crimes to justice. That coming from the Attorney General tonight.”
