Rabid Karen Arrested After Spitting on U.S Attorney Ed Martin During Live Interview [WATCH]

A woman who assaulted Acting District of Columbia U.S. Attorney Ed Martin during a live Newsmax interview has been arrested and will face federal charges, officials confirmed Friday.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon while Martin was giving an on-camera interview in Washington, D.C. A female protester approached him mid-segment, verbally confronted him, and then spat on him before walking away.

According to Martin, the suspect has been identified and taken into custody.

She will be charged under 18 U.S. Code § 111, which makes it a federal crime to assault or intimidate federal officials engaged in the performance of their duties.

“The U.S. Marshals do know who the woman is who spit on him yesterday during a Newsmax appearance,” said Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Vince Coglianese, citing a conversation with Martin.

“And if they haven’t already, they will be making an arrest. Also, she clearly ID’d him as ‘Ed Martin,’ leaving no doubt that she was targeting a federal official.”

Video of the confrontation circulated widely on social media Thursday evening. In the footage, Martin can be seen speaking with a Newsmax reporter when the woman suddenly appears and begins yelling at him.

“We need to stay focused,” Martin says, just moments before being interrupted.

“Whoa!” he exclaims as the woman steps forward and spits on him.

“You’re a disgusting man!” the woman shouts while walking away with her dog.

In an uncensored clip of the incident, the woman is also heard yelling, “Who the f**k are you?! You are Ed Martin!” before the assault takes place.

Officials have not yet released the name of the suspect, but Martin confirmed Friday that an arrest has been made and charges are being prepared.

The confrontation occurred shortly after President Donald Trump announced he was withdrawing Martin’s nomination for permanent D.C. U.S. Attorney.

In his place, the President nominated former judge and television host Jeanine Pirro to serve in the role.

Martin, who had been serving in an acting capacity, was appointed earlier this year and has overseen several high-profile investigations and prosecutions in the D.C. area during his brief tenure.

The charge filed against the suspect—18 U.S. Code § 111—can carry penalties ranging from fines to several years in federal prison, depending on the circumstances of the assault.

Spitting on a federal officer is considered a form of physical contact under the law and is therefore prosecutable as assault.

Officials have not indicated whether additional charges, such as disorderly conduct or interference with a federal function, may also be filed.

The U.S. Marshals Service has not issued a formal statement but confirmed that the case is being handled according to standard federal procedures for assaults on law enforcement personnel or federal officials.

The White House and Department of Justice have not commented on the incident as of Friday evening.
