Celebrity chef Rachael Ray has once again ignited concern among fans after sharing a heartfelt — but noticeably shaky — video on Mother’s Day.
The 56-year-old culinary star posted a cooking clip to Instagram on Sunday that showed her reminiscing about her early struggles in New York City.
However, it wasn’t just her story that captured attention. Viewers quickly pointed out that Ray appeared to slur her words and seemed unwell, prompting a wave of worry from her loyal followers.

In the video, Ray stood over her stovetop, recalling a time when she was “very, very poor” while trying to survive in New York.
“I didn’t want to bother my mother. I didn’t want her to feel scared for me. So I would never ask for money,” she said. “And I didn’t have any.”
Ray went on to talk about how her frugality and upbringing led to the creation of her popular show $40 a Day, where she showcased how to eat on a strict budget.

“Eventually, I did a show called ‘$40 a Day.’ And that was my budget for a whole week. I would buy a week’s food, and I only had $40,” she explained.

“I always felt so grateful that I came from people that taught me how to buy dry beans, a few vegetables, very little protein and to live on that for a long time. And I’m deeply grateful for it.”

“It has changed the course of my life. It has made my life what it is,” she added. “And that’s what I try to share in these shows as often as I can.”
While many fans appreciated the emotional reflection, others expressed immediate concern for her health.
“Rachael are you okay? You don’t look well,” one follower commented.

Another wrote, “OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO RACHAEL,” while someone else said simply, “She looks sick.”
Some went even further, saying, “Girl are you okay? We don’t recognize you,” and “Rachael worried about you! ❤️ .”

At the same time, a number of fans and supporters jumped to her defense, urging kindness and compassion.
“Let’s be kind or silent. We never know what people are going through,” one person responded.
Another echoed the sentiment: “Please be kind, we never know what types of health or personal struggles people have.”
One fan emphasized empathy, writing, “She’s having some health issues. Hopefully, people will understand and show her grace as she goes through it.”

This isn’t the first time Ray’s health has come under public scrutiny.
In 2023, fans noticed similar slurred speech during an episode of Rachael Ray in Tuscany as she made Tony Bennett’s favorite meal.
Though she didn’t initially address the concerns, Ray later shared on her I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead podcast that she had recently suffered “a couple of bad falls,” offering limited details.

In a candid conversation with fellow chef Anne Burrell during a December podcast episode, Ray opened up about her fear of public perception.
“Do you ever think about the way people think about you? I don’t,” she said. “I’m, like, afraid to, quite frankly.”
As of now, Ray’s team has not responded to requests for comment regarding the latest video.
Her fans, meanwhile, remain divided between concern and defense, united only in their hope that the beloved chef is doing okay.
