Radical Left Billionaires Are Funding the Astroturfed Riots in Minnesota: Rep Byron Donalds [WATCH]

Rep. Byron Donalds said recent protests and unrest tied to immigration enforcement are being used by Democrats as a political strategy rather than a response to genuine concerns, arguing the demonstrations are aimed at regaining power ahead of future elections.

Donalds made the remarks during an exchange with Lara Trump, responding to a question about whether Republicans should move on from fraud investigations.

“On that anymore. Is this going to be we’re going to forget about the fraud, or do you think we should double down on that?” Lara Trump asked.

Donalds rejected the idea of backing away from fraud issues while framing the broader political context surrounding the protests.

“No. We’re going to, we’re not going to forget about the fraud. We’re going to continue to press forward and uncover all of that,” Donalds said.

“But I think it’s important for us to be honest about what this entire situation is about.”

According to Donalds, the Democratic Party has struggled to define a message since losing the 2024 election.

“The Democrat Party post 2024 have been reeling,” Donalds said.

“They’ve been looking for something to stand on, something to campaign on, something to go to voters in America and say, put us back in charge.”

He said opposition to President Donald Trump has become the party’s central organizing principle.

“The truth of the matter is, their entire political foundation is opposing Donald Trump,” Donalds said.

Donalds pointed to protests in multiple states as evidence of a coordinated effort.

“That is why you have these protests in Minnesota,” he said. “That is why you have radical left billionaires who are funding the astroturf in Minnesota, in California, et cetera.”

He also accused major media outlets of selectively ignoring violence against federal officers.

“That’s why the big media is ignoring the fact that ice off officers have been hit by cars shot at in various parts of the country,” Donalds said, adding that coverage has failed to defend law enforcement personnel.

“And media is not coming to defense of federal officials who have families too, who are Americans too, who are doing their job, which is the law in the United States of America,” he said.

Instead, Donalds argued, Democrats are being given a platform to advance political goals.

“Instead, they are giving the Democrats a political platform so the Democrats can try to get power again in the United States,” he said.

“That’s why this is so sick.”

Donalds said the protests are not fundamentally about legal disagreements but about electoral strategy.

“Because this is not really even about the law, per se,” he said.

“It’s about Democrats wanting power in the midterm elections, in 2026 and in the years beyond.”

He accused Democratic leaders of using their positions to inflame tensions rather than work with authorities.

“That’s why, instead of being responsible and working with law enforcement, they are using their words and their leadership positions to foment these, these up, these agitators in these protests,” Donalds said.

He said that rhetoric has contributed to direct confrontations with police.

“Which are now taking the unnecessary and terrible step of getting into right direct conflict with law enforcement,” he said.

Donalds concluded by noting that those confrontations have had fatal consequences.

“And unfortunately, now two people have lost their lives because they were reckless with their behavior engaging law enforcement,” Donalds said.

“And law enforcement does have a responsibility to defend their lives.”
