The House of Representatives passed President Donald Trump’s sweeping budget reconciliation bill Thursday afternoon in a 218-214 vote, clearing the way for a historic expansion of immigration enforcement efforts across the country, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.

The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” includes provisions to dramatically increase deportations, expand detention capacity, and boost border security.

It authorizes over $100 billion in funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), with the goal of deporting up to one million illegal aliens annually and completing hundreds of miles of border wall construction.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., attempted to stall the vote by delivering a nearly nine-hour floor speech. During the speech, Jeffries warned that the legislation would lead to a dramatic increase in immigration enforcement.

“The deportation machine that will be unleashed on steroids by this one big, ugly bill,” Jeffries said. “We know that, in fact, is the case. That’s not hyperbole.”

Despite his objections, the bill passed with the support of nearly all Republicans, except Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who voted against it.

The bill includes several key provisions:

Expanding ICE detention capacity to over 100,000 beds.

Hiring thousands of new ICE and CBP agents.

Allocating $46 billion to complete remaining segments of the southern border wall.

Enhancing surveillance infrastructure at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Limiting access to asylum and repealing many Biden-era humanitarian protections.

Imposing fees on migrants seeking work permits or protected status.

Requiring cooperation from local law enforcement in federal immigration operations.

Defunding jurisdictions with sanctuary policies.

The vote followed weeks of debate over the bill, which forms the cornerstone of President Trump’s renewed push to secure the southern border and enforce existing immigration laws.

The Trump administration has framed the legislation as a necessary response to the massive influx of illegal immigration during the Biden presidency.

While Jeffries warned of the bill’s impact, his extended floor remarks drew limited enthusiasm from his own party. Several Democrats were seen falling asleep during the speech, which failed to move enough votes to block the legislation.

The bill will now move to the Senate, where it is expected to face further debate in the coming days.
