During a speech at the Human Rights Campaign Monday night, Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett called Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who is confined to a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels” and a “hot ass mess.”
“Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now. And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess, honey,” Crockett said in her speech to the LGBTQ+ advocacy group.
Abbott has been paralyzed from the waist down since a massive oak tree fell on his back over 40 years ago.
Crockett’s remarks are not the first from a Texas Democrat about Abbott’s condition.

In her 2014 campaign ad for Texas Governor, State Sen. Wendy Davis said that since being paralyzed, Abbott has dedicated his career to “working against other victims.”
Crockett’s remarks add to a string of antagonistic comments she has made recently toward Republican lawmakers. On March 23, Crockett said she thinks Democrats should metaphorically “punch” Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
“I think that you punch. I think you punch. I think you’re ok with … you’re okay with punching … but like, it’s Ted Cruz! I mean like, this dude has to be knocked over the head, like hard, right? Like, there is no niceties with him. Like, at all. Like, you go clean off on him, right?” Crockett said. In an online video post that she has now removed, Crockett called on her viewers to “take down” Elon Musk.
“On March 29 it’s my birthday,” she said. “All I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down.”
Her comments sparked a backlash from Republican officials.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said on Fox News Sunday that Crockett “needs to tread very carefully because nothing will happen to Elon Musk, and we are going to fight to protect all the Tesla owners throughout this country.”
After Crockett’s remarks, Republican Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs penned a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel urging him to open an investigation into Crockett and others for domestic terror threats against Tesla owners.

The letter, co-signed by Republican Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison, Republican Texas Rep. Keith Self, Republican Louisiana Rep. Clay Higgins, Republican Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, and Republican Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, reads, “Open an inquiry into those who are fomenting, inciting and engaging in domestic terrorism, including recent calls to action by Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett.”
Earlier this month, at least five Tesla vehicles were set ablaze in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Police Department.
