Texas Attorney General (AG) Ken Paxton initiated an investigation in June into potential noncitizens voting in one of the state’s largest counties. Of course, Democrats and their legacy media henchmen swear this kind of thing never happens in the U.S. because there are laws against noncitizens voting in our elections.
Still, what started as a case referred by Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson, investigating 33 alleged noncitizens voting in the 2024 General Election, has now more than doubled the number of potential noncitizens and spans three election cycles, according to Paxton.
BREAKING: I’m opening investigations into 33 noncitizens for illegally voting in the 2024 election.

A press release announcing the investigation states the AG’s office is looking into more than 100 possible noncitizens who cast over 200 ballots in the 2020 and 2022 election cycles. (Sign up for Mary Rooke’s weekly newsletter here!)
“Illegal aliens and foreign nationals must not be allowed to influence Texas elections by casting illegal ballots with impunity. I will not allow it to continue,” Paxton said in the press release. “Thanks to President Trump’s decisive action to help states safeguard the ballot box, this investigation will help Texas hold noncitizens accountable for unlawfully voting in American elections. If you’re a noncitizen who illegally cast a ballot, you will face the full force of the law.”
Paxton praised Trump’s executive order directing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to enable states access to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service’s SAVE Database. This gives the state’s secretary of state the ability to obtain the necessary voting information required to pursue these cases.

Of course, this investigation contradicts what legacy media have been telling their readers for years.
NPR reported this right before the 2024 presidential election: “This presidential campaign, former President Donald Trump and other Republicans have been repeating the false narrative that Democrats are purposefully letting migrants into the country so they will vote. There’s no evidence for the claim, which echoes a racist conspiracy theory known as the ‘great replacement.’”
The outlet’s argument, which included proof that it does happen, is that it is illegal for noncitizens to vote and that even when they do vote in our elections, it’s rare.
When the House passed the SAVE Act in April, CNN employed a similar argument to NPR’s in criticizing the bill.
“The House passed a Republican-led bill Thursday to require documentary proof of US citizenship to register to vote in federal elections, despite the fact that it is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections,” the outlet reported, adding, “It is already against the law for people who aren’t US citizens to vote in federal elections, and experts say it rarely happens.”
Steve Benen, an MSNBC producer for “The Rachel Maddow Show,” also wrote a piece about the passing of the SAVE Act, titled “House Republicans pass the ‘SAVE Act,’ which is a solution in search of a problem.”
In it, Benen accuses House Speaker Mike Johnson of traveling to Mar-a-Lago to “kiss Donald Trump’s ring” and once again states that it’s illegal for noncitizens to vote in U.S. elections, but when it does happen, it’s … rare.
“The House GOP majority passed a ban on noncitizen voting, which (a) almost never happens; and (b) is already illegal,” Benson said.
The websites of NPR, CNN and MSNBC are mysteriously missing any mention of the noncitizen voting investigations in Texas.
Democrats rarely say they want noncitizens to vote in U.S. elections. Instead, they claim that bills — such as the SAVE Act — are redundant, disenfranchise legitimate voters, and even if noncitizens do vote, again, it is rare.
The right to vote is the fundamental right from which all of our rights flow.
I listened closely to the grave concerns that non-partisan election officials across New Hampshire raised with me about the partisan SAVE Act. And that’s why I voted against it. If enacted, this… pic.twitter.com/gTfQz99eZz

In fact, we know Virginia removed thousands of illegal voters from their rolls before the 2024 election, many of whom illegally voted in previous elections. But maybe, just maybe, it seems so rare to them because there are only a handful of states conducting on-the-ground investigations into these allegations. This is yet another example of the thing not happening, but even if it does, it’s good that it is.
