Passengers aboard Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas — the world’s largest cruise ship — were met with panic when a glass panel on one of the vessel’s water slides suddenly shattered mid-ride, injuring a male guest, as reported by The New York Post.
Video from the incident shows water pouring from a large hole in the slide while startled guests below shout, “Stop the slide!” as the situation unfolds. The cruise line confirmed the incident and said the injured guest received immediate medical care.

The Icon of the Seas departed from Miami on Aug. 2 for a Caribbean itinerary and is scheduled to return to port on Saturday.
The ship, launched earlier this year, features an expansive waterpark among its attractions, which includes several enclosed slides made of acrylic panels.
Royal Caribbean has not yet indicated whether similar slides on the ship or across its fleet will be inspected or taken out of service while the investigation is ongoing. No other injuries were reported during the incident.
The incident comes as cruise lines continue to expand onboard entertainment offerings to attract passengers, with increasingly elaborate water parks becoming standard features on large vessels.

Safety protocols for such attractions are subject to maritime regulations and internal cruise line safety checks.
Passengers onboard reported that crew members responded quickly, closing access to the slide and securing the area while medical personnel attended to the injured guest. The company said passenger safety remains its top priority.
