Texas Rep. Chip Roy announced that the SAVE America Act is set to move forward in the House next week, crediting House leadership for advancing the legislation and calling on the Senate to take action once it passes.
Roy said the bill, formally known as H.R. 7296, will be brought up due to the efforts of Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise.
The legislation, which Roy sponsored in the House and Sen. Mike Lee sponsored in the Senate, focuses on voter eligibility and election procedures.

“Hey everybody. It’s Chip Roy from Texas, 21 and I’m standing outside the House chamber where, next week we are going to move. Thanks to the leadership of the speaker and leader Scalise, we’re going to move HR, 7296 the SAVE AMERICA Act legislation that I filed over here in the house, and then my friend Mike Lee filed in the Senate,” Roy said.
Roy described the bill as a straightforward measure aimed at strengthening election integrity.
“This is common sense legislation. It will require citizenship to register to vote, and it will require voter ID at the polls,” he said.
Roy added that public support for such measures cuts across demographic lines.
“This is an issue that polls at something like 80% regardless of your race, regardless of your background. This is common sense stuff that we think we should move.”

According to Roy, the SAVE America Act has already demonstrated bipartisan support in the House.
“The SAVE Act, by the way, has passed on a bipartisan basis twice off of the House floor,” he said.
However, he argued that the bill has stalled in the Senate due to opposition from Democratic leadership.
“The problem is Chuck Schumer and the Democrats have been blocking it,” Roy said.
He urged Senate Republicans to take procedural steps to force the issue.
“So now we’re calling on leader Thune to change this and to force what we call a talking filibuster so that we can force a vote on the Senate floor.”
Roy emphasized the importance of Senate action once the House advances the bill.
“We think we can. I’m over in the Capitol dome room. Across the other side of the dome is the Senate,” he said.
“When we pass this in the house, let’s make the Senate do their job and pass the SAVE AMERICA Act.”
Roy concluded his remarks with a patriotic appeal, saying, “God bless America.”
