Eight individuals were arrested Wednesday night in Seattle following a violent anti-ICE protest that escalated into a riot near the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building in the city’s downtown area.
Authorities say the protest turned violent after 9:30 p.m., when demonstrators began throwing fireworks, rocks, and other projectiles at police officers.
The protest began earlier in the evening at 7 p.m. with a rally at Cal Anderson Park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood—an area previously known as the site of the 2020 “autonomous zone.”

Prior to the demonstration, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) and the city’s Department of Transportation issued advisories to residents and business owners, warning of possible disruptions.

The advisory urged the public to secure outdoor property and take precautions in neighborhoods expected to be affected by the demonstration, including Capitol Hill, First Hill, and downtown Seattle.
While the protest remained largely non-violent in its early stages, the situation changed dramatically by late evening.

According to on-the-ground reports, including journalist Brandi Kruse, a large firework exploded directly in front of the Seattle Police bike line.
“There’s a little something in the air,” Kruse reported.
“Protesters lit off one of these massive fireworks right in the middle of the Seattle Police bike line. I would be shocked if officers didn’t get injured. Police cleared the plaza except for media and pushed the rioters back toward the fire.”

A dumpster fire was also set at an adjacent intersection, prompting a response from fire crews under police protection.

Firefighters were reportedly targeted with projectiles while attempting to extinguish the flames.

Katie Daviscourt of The Post Millennial also reported from the scene, stating, “Anti-ICE Antifa rioters have been assaulting Seattle Police Department officers all night.”
According to SPD, at least eight individuals were arrested Wednesday night in connection with the riot.
The department noted that aggressive members of the crowd had also turned hostile toward members of the media, threatening journalists and attempting to prevent them from filming or photographing the events.
The incident followed a similar protest the night before, during which demonstrators vandalized federal property and confronted both law enforcement and the press.
On Tuesday, activists removed and burned American flags outside the Jackson Building, blocked federal garage exits using bicycles and scooters, and physically confronted federal agents.
Two individuals were arrested during those clashes.
Seattle authorities have confirmed that another protest is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, with participants planning to march from Cal Anderson Park to Seattle Center.
The Seattle Police Department has issued another public advisory warning of possible lane closures, property damage, and additional criminal activity.
Talk Radio 570 KVI’s The Ari Hoffman Show reported that organizers have planned a series of events throughout the week and into the weekend, raising additional concerns about continued unrest.

SPD is encouraging residents and business owners to secure property, lock dumpsters, and remain aware of any developing situations.
Officials also asked the public to report vandalism or violent activity in real time by calling 911.
The department said it remains committed to protecting the city while monitoring future events.
