Security Guard Speaks Out After the Chappell Roan Hotel Dispute with Child

The security guard involved in a widely reported incident at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil, involving singer Chappell Roan and actress Catherine Harding’s daughter has publicly addressed the situation, stating he was not part of the performer’s security team while accepting responsibility for his actions, as reported by Page Six.

Pascal Duvier, identified by the Daily Mail as the individual who confronted 11-year-old Ada, the daughter of Harding and actor Jude Law, issued a statement on Wednesday on Instagram following days of public attention surrounding the encounter.

“I do not normally address online rumors, but the accusations currently circulating are false and constitute defamation,” Duvier wrote.

He continued, “I take full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st. I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan. The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.”

The incident, which reportedly occurred at a hotel in São Paulo, drew attention after claims surfaced that a security guard had aggressively approached Ada and Harding after the child walked near Roan’s table.

According to reports, Ada had recognized the singer and walked by to confirm her identity.

Duvier said his actions were based on a judgment call tied to security concerns.

“I made a judgment call based on information obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior, and the heightened security risk of the location,” he wrote.

“My sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter is regretful,” Duvier added.

The situation gained further attention after Brazilian soccer player Jorginho Frello, Ada’s stepfather, criticized Roan in a social media post over the weekend.

“My daughter got super scared and cried a lot,” Frello wrote. “Honestly, I don’t know in what world just passing by a table and looking … can be considered harassment.”

He also wrote, “Without your fans you would be nobody,” and added, “And to the fans, she does not deserve your affection.”

Roan responded to the allegations in a video posted to Instagram, stating that the security guard was not a member of her team and that she had not interacted with Ada or Harding.

“I do not hate children, like, that is crazy,” Roan said.

She also said she did not instruct anyone to approach the mother and daughter.

Harding later addressed the situation, expressing uncertainty about whether the security guard was connected to Roan’s team.

“Did she send him to do it? Again, I don’t know,” Harding said.

“Look, I would like to hope not, but at the same time, I think that you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity to make sure, I guess, that the people who work for you and act on your behalf are acting on your behalf.”

Roan, 28, reiterated her position in a statement released Tuesday through a representative.

“Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards,” the statement said.

“Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security officer. She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them.”
