The spokesperson said Fetterman is “doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital.” The office also shared a statement from the senator, who commented on the incident.

According to his office, Fetterman opted to remain hospitalized so doctors could adjust his medication regimen.

Fetterman has dealt with medical challenges in the past, including a stroke in 2022 during his Senate campaign that affected his ability to speak and process auditory information for a period of time.

His ongoing health monitoring has remained a consistent part of his work schedule since entering the Senate.

The hospitalization comes at a time when Fetterman has drawn attention for breaking with most Senate Democrats during the recent government shutdown.

He was among the members who voted to reopen the federal government, a position that drew both praise and criticism inside his party.

Fetterman’s office did not specify how long he is expected to remain under medical supervision. Additional updates are expected once doctors complete their evaluation and finalize adjustments to his treatment plan.
