Taylor said two deputies were struck by shrapnel during the gunfire. A third deputy was taken to the emergency department out of what he described as “an abundance of caution” and has since been released.
Following the initial exchange of gunfire, a standoff developed between law enforcement and the suspect. The situation ended when the suspect surrendered without further violence.
