A registered sex offender with a documented criminal history was arrested this week after a violent and erratic outburst at a Trader Joe’s store in Seattle, Washington.
As The New York Post reported, authorities say the suspect, Keelan Terrel Malone, 33, entered the East Madison Street location on August 5 and proceeded to threaten staff and customers with a knife, while also engaging in bizarre and indecent behavior.
According to the Seattle Police Department, Malone began shouting racial slurs and brandishing a knife shortly after entering the store. Witnesses reported that he then began “humping” a refrigerator and attempted to do the same to a customer.

When approached by security, Malone reacted by kicking over a flower display and throwing apples across the store.
He then threatened to “kill everyone in the store,” prompting staff to call 911. Officers from Seattle Police responded to the scene and took Malone into custody. He was booked into King County Jail on felony harassment charges and is being held on $1,000 bond.

“The suspect’s life might get a lot harder if he is not allowed to come within 500 feet of a fridge,” the department’s blotter noted.
Detectives in the department’s Homicide and Assault Unit are investigating the case.
Malone’s history with law enforcement is extensive. According to court records, he was convicted in 2018 of rape and attempted residential burglary.
The incident involved breaking into a woman’s home and fondling her while her infant child slept nearby. In 2020, he was sentenced to less than seven months in jail and 24 months of supervised probation.
In 2021, Malone violated his probation by allegedly breaking into a senior living facility, where he stole credit cards, cash, and a cellphone from a resident’s room while she stepped outside for a cigarette.
He was charged with residential burglary, but a judge ruled in early 2022 that he was not competent to stand trial. A state evaluator had determined that he required inpatient competency restoration.
The case was later dismissed due to Washington state law, which mandates that defendants undergoing competency restoration must be transferred to a state hospital within 14 days. Malone remained in jail for 40 days.
A LinkedIn profile believed to belong to Malone states he earned a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University in 2014 and worked as a camera operator for the West Angeles Church of God for over a decade.
Due to Washington state law, Seattle Police are prohibited from releasing Malone’s booking photo.
