Authorities said the victim avoided serious harm by reacting quickly to the attack.
The filing reportedly stated the commuter “had to lean back to avoid his throat being cut,” allowing him to escape without life-threatening injuries.
Investigators allege that Ibrahim made statements during the incident indicating he believed the victim posed a threat.
According to reports, Ibrahim claimed to be a CIA agent and accused the commuter of being a hitman, which authorities say led to the attempted attack.
The incident was captured on video by multiple witnesses at Union Station, a major transportation hub that serves thousands of travelers daily.
Officials have not released the footage publicly, but reports indicate that several bystanders recorded the encounter as it unfolded.
Following the incident, Ibrahim was taken into custody by law enforcement officers at the scene. Court documents obtained by Fox News Digital indicate that he is being held without bond as the case proceeds through the legal system.
Jail records show that Ibrahim is scheduled to appear in court again on March 27. An attorney assigned to represent him was not identified in available records.
Officials with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to requests for additional information regarding the case.
Authorities have not released further details about the victim or whether any additional charges could be filed. The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare to present the case in court.
The incident adds to a series of violent episodes reported in major transit centers, drawing attention to safety concerns in high-traffic public areas.
Law enforcement officials have not indicated whether Ibrahim had any prior criminal history in the United States or abroad.
