Shopping a Story Around: Omar Says Son Stopped by ICE Coming Home From Target

Ilhan Omar confirms her son was pulled over and detained by ICE.

Darn those nasty, profiling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) types doing enforcing the law work.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., said her adult son was pulled over by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Saturday in Minnesota and asked to provide proof of citizenship.

“Yesterday, after he made a stop at Target, he did get pulled over by ICE agents,” Omar, who said her son was born in the U.S., told WCCO-TV of the Twin Cities in an interview Sunday. “Once he was able to produce his passport ID, they did let him go.”

Omar, who immigrated to the U.S. when she was 12 after having fled Somalia’s civil war, also accused ICE of “racially profiling” her community.

“They are looking for young men who look Somali that they think are undocumented,” she said.

Anytime this vicious, lying piece of imported crap opens her yap and spins a yarn, I am tempted to use my favorite ‘didn’t happen but in yellow’ meme.

I think I will.

So let’s see what the survey says, shall we?

Omar’s sticking like progressive glue to the dramatic tale.

…Omar spokesperson Jacklyn Rogers told Fox News Digital the Democratic lawmaker stands by her account of the situation.

“The congresswoman’s son and others were pulled over by ICE, racially profiled, and forced to prove their citizenship with a passport,” Rogers said.

Oh, wait a second. It takes a bit of digging to find an actual news report that gives details of the stop Omar is recounting as a purely profiling incident.

Her little lad was pulled over for speeding. He wasn’t stopped just because he was brown-skinned with a thin nose.

That context is important as speeding is a serious traffic violation, not a ‘how you look’ violation.

Where I am confused by the events as Omar recites them is why ICE would be running traffic enforcement. Do they have nothing better to do?

I don’t know about you, but this sounded a little sketchy to me. The improbability factor is only compounded by who is telling the tale, which turns out to be the giveaway that it’s bunk.

According to the government, the meme holds.

…Allegations that ICE engages in ‘racial profiling’ are disgusting, reckless and categorically FALSE. What makes someone a target for immigration enforcement is if they are illegally in the U.S.—NOT their skin color, race, or ethnicity. Under the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, DHS law enforcement uses “reasonable suspicion” to make arrests.

I kinda had a feeling that was the case, you know?

…Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons pushed back on the assertion on Tuesday, telling Fox News Digital the incident never happened.

“ICE has absolutely zero record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son,” Lyons said.

“It speaks volumes that Congresswoman Omar is leveling this accusation with absolutely zero proof.”

Lyons called Omar’s comments to the local outlet a “ridiculous effort” to demonize federal law enforcement. He also said her rhetoric contributes to a spike in threats against ICE personnel, citing a 1,150% increase in assaults and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

If they can nail this anti-American, hate-spewing viper for immigration fraud, denaturalize her, and ship her back to Mogadishu on a tramp freighter, it won’t be a minute too soon.
