Dr. Vin Gupta is drawing criticism following recent social media comments in which he suggested that Donald Trump is showing signs of dementia, while past remarks from 2024 regarding former President Joe Biden have resurfaced for comparison, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
Gupta, who has appeared on MSNBC programming, posted a message on X outlining what he described as symptoms he believes are being exhibited by President Trump. In the post, Gupta wrote:
“Erratic.
Can’t finish sentences.
Often confused.
Illogical train of thought.
Word finding difficulties.
Developing and worsening gradually over time.
The President is exhibiting all the signs of dementia.”

The comments quickly generated responses online, with critics pointing out that Gupta has not personally examined President Trump. Medical professionals typically avoid diagnosing individuals without direct evaluation.

The reaction also focused on Gupta’s prior statements about Biden during the 2024 election cycle. At the time, Gupta described Biden’s condition differently, saying:
“Biden is actually quite robust relative to what we see normal aging at 81. More broadly, we don’t talk enough about [Trump]. There’s signs of forgetfulness, judgment issues… The exact same things we’re scrutinizing the President about, certainly we’re seeing symptomatic in former President Trump.”
All the way into July 2024 Gupta was defending Biden as “quite robust” and “high functioning.”
Tellingly in this clip, immediately after glazing Biden, he goes after Trump, even though he wasn’t even asked about Trump.

The contrast between the two sets of comments has led to increased scrutiny of Gupta’s public statements. Social media users responded to the recent post by highlighting the earlier remarks and questioning the consistency of his assessments.
A video circulating online shows Gupta discussing Biden’s condition in 2024, while the newer post focuses on Trump.

The juxtaposition has been widely shared across platforms, with users debating the credibility of public medical commentary made without direct examination.
Gupta has not indicated that he has conducted a personal medical evaluation of President Trump.
The American Medical Association and other professional groups generally discourage physicians from offering definitive diagnoses of public figures without proper clinical interaction.
The broader discussion has centered on how medical opinions are presented in public forums, particularly when tied to political figures.
Critics argue that commentary based on observation alone can lead to disputes over credibility and consistency.
The online response has continued to grow, with users posting reactions and commentary regarding Gupta’s statements and their implications.
Some responses have focused on the differences between his remarks about Biden and Trump, while others have questioned the practice of offering public medical assessments in political discussions.
But you claimed Biden was in top form. A mental giant right up to being kicked to the curb after his slackjawed, stuttering, cloud cuckoo land debate performance. You’re a broken toy with zero credibility.

You are simply not to question a man on MSNOW in a lab coat

He is wearing a lab coat and that is how you know he is a doctor and you should take him seriously.

The situation highlights ongoing debates about public commentary from medical professionals and the standards expected when discussing the health of elected officials.
