Soros-Funded Group ‘Indivisible’ Exposed, Pushing Democrats Toward Government Shutdown

A left-wing activist group funded by the Soros family is leading a campaign to pressure Senate Democrats to oppose a continuing resolution and risk a partial government shutdown.

Indivisible, which has organized a number of demonstrations including the “No Kings” protests, is urging Democrats to block government funding legislation in opposition to President Donald Trump.

The group has launched an online tool allowing supporters to call their senators directly, providing a script that frames the funding bill as a “blank check” to Trump.

According to Indivisible’s website, its non-tax-deductible entity, the Indivisible Project, has received $7.6 million in grants from the Open Society Foundations (OSF) over the last eight years.

OSF was founded by billionaire George Soros in 1993 and is now chaired by his son, Alexander Soros.

“Federal government funding runs out on September 30 — and Republicans need Democratic votes to clear the filibuster and avoid a government shutdown,” the group’s form states.

“Democrats have a strong hand to play. They must use it to deny Donald Trump the blank check Republicans want to hand him!”

Funding for the federal government is set to expire Tuesday unless Congress passes a continuing resolution. Senate Democrats, led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have thus far refused to support Republican-backed funding bills that exclude their preferred policy measures.

Indivisible has criticized Schumer and other Democrats for cooperating with Republicans earlier this year.

“But in the last big funding fight, Chuck Schumer and a handful of other Dems surrendered—rolling over and letting Trump weaponize federal funds to rob our services, militarize our cities, and terrorize our communities,” the group’s form reads.

“That cannot happen again.”

In March, Schumer joined with Republicans to pass a spending measure to keep the government funded.

Indivisible responded by calling for him to resign his leadership position and hosted an event where activists signed retirement cards addressed to him.

The group is also telling supporters to remind senators that “we cannot hand blank checks to a wannabe king” and to pressure Schumer to “FIGHT LIKE HELL.”

Schumer’s cooperation with Republicans in March drew criticism from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who blasted his decision publicly.

Speculation grew that she could mount a primary challenge in New York’s 2028 Senate election.

A March poll from Data for Progress showed her with a nearly 20-point advantage over Schumer in a hypothetical matchup.

On Sept. 19, the House passed a GOP-supported clean continuing resolution to keep the government funded through Nov. 21, with only one Democrat voting in favor.

The measure failed in the Senate after falling short of the 60 votes needed to bypass a filibuster.

That same day, the Senate also voted down a Schumer-backed alternative that included major policy reversals.

The Democratic version would have undone roughly $1 trillion in savings from Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, rolled back Medicaid work requirements, and restored health care subsidies for illegal aliens.

“Senate Democrats must reject the Soros-funded pressure from the radical left and pass the clean CR,” a White House official told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The official added, “More than one trillion dollars in new spending, taxpayer-funded health care for illegal aliens, half a billion dollars for left-wing media, and the elimination of the rural health care fund are all nonstarters – completely out of touch with what the American people want and deserve from their government.”

The official warned that if Democrats align with Indivisible and allow a shutdown, the consequences would include risks to law enforcement, loss of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) benefits, and disruptions in senior health care.

President Trump is expected to meet with Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune on Monday, just one day before the deadline, as both sides weigh the risk of a partial shutdown.
