A San Jose-based radio station, KCBS, has come under fire for broadcasting details about active Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, potentially putting law enforcement officers and the public at risk.
The report, aired by KCBS’ Brett Burkhart, revealed the locations of ICE agents conducting deportation operations on the east side of San Jose.
The information, which was also shared by San Jose City Council member Peter Ortiz and the Santa Clara County Rapid Response Network, alerted criminal illegal aliens about the enforcement activity.

Burkhart reported that “Mayor Matt Mahan and council member Peter Ortiz confirmed today that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are currently carrying out an operation on the east side of town,” citing information from the Santa Clara County Rapid Response Network.
Ortiz, who confirmed the ICE operation to the network, is a vocal advocate for illegal immigrants.
In his official city council biography, Ortiz states that he “joined a gang at the age of 12” before turning his life around.
Despite this, his actions in alerting illegal immigrants to ICE’s presence have raised concerns about whether he is protecting criminals at the expense of public safety.
The Santa Clara Rapid Response Network describes itself as a “community defense project developed to protect immigrant families from deportation threats and to provide accompaniment support during and after a community member’s arrest or detention.”
Critics argue that broadcasting the locations of ICE agents not only jeopardizes ongoing operations but also puts officers’ lives at risk.
NewsMax anchor Rob Finnerty weighed in on the situation, warning that such actions “could end up getting American citizens killed,” including the ICE agents who were exposed.
“Jeopardizing law enforcement operations in such a manner is a crime,” Finnerty stated.
Burkhart’s report also included specific descriptions of the unmarked vehicles used in the ICE operation.
“The County’s Response Network says agents in San Jose were in unmarked vehicles, including a black Dodge Durango, a gray Nissan Maxima, and a white Nissan truck. ICE agents were also reported outside a residence on South White and Tully roads,” he reported.
KCBS is reportedly owned by billionaire George Soros, who last year took control of 235 radio stations after becoming the largest shareholder in Audacy, Inc.

The station’s reporting has raised questions about potential political motives behind its decision to expose ICE’s activities.
Kari Lake, the incoming director of Voice of America, responded to the report on X (formerly Twitter), expressing alarm over the broadcast.
“In the lead-up to my segment with @RobFinnertyUSA, I heard some audio that truly shocked me,” Lake posted.
“A host from @KCBSRadio tipped off criminals about the locations of ICE agents & the make & model of their vehicles. Then, we learned something that made the motive behind the despicable actions obvious. This was one of the many radio stations recently purchased by George Soros, a billionaire who has used his fortune to fund politicians & causes who seek to undermine American safety & sovereignty.”

The disclosure of ICE operations has fueled concerns over the role of media outlets in interfering with law enforcement actions.
With growing criticism from officials and public safety advocates, the incident is likely to bring increased scrutiny to KCBS and its ownership.
