The head of a nonprofit founded by twice-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is stepping down after his organization got slapped with a massive ethics fine.
Francys Johnson, the leader of The New Georgia Project, announced his resignation following the group’s $300,000 penalty for illegal campaign fundraising—a financial hit that highlights the shady dealings of the left’s so-called voter advocacy efforts, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.
Abrams created The New Georgia Project in 2013 with the goal of increasing black voter turnout, all while pushing the tired, unsubstantiated narrative that Republicans in Georgia suppress black votes.

After her repeated election failures, Abrams blamed her humiliating losses on “voter suppression” rather than admitting that Georgia voters simply rejected her radical policies.
Now, her nonprofit is in hot water over a five-year-long ethics investigation that uncovered millions in dark money fundraising.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the Georgia State Ethics Commission found that The New Georgia Project raised $4.2 million in dark money and spent $3.2 million on campaign activities.
Despite Democrats constantly decrying “dark money” in politics, they sure seem to have no problem engaging in it when it serves their own interests.

Johnson, now jumping ship in the wake of the scandal, acknowledged his exit in a recorded phone call obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“I’ve probably done all the good I can do, and my presence is a distraction to our mission. It’s unfortunate, and it’s a reality I can recognize. It’s time to let the organization move forward beyond all this.”
Johnson’s departure comes as The New Georgia Project struggles under the weight of its historic fine, layoffs, and increasing tensions between the organization and its own founder, Stacey Abrams. Apparently, even among Democrats, there’s discord when money scandals erupt.
But this isn’t the only eyebrow-raising financial scheme linked to Abrams. Another group tied to her, Power Forward Communities, is now facing scrutiny for a jaw-dropping windfall from Joe Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Biden’s EPA awarded $2 billion to this brand-new nonprofit—a nonprofit that, mind you, reported a mere $100 in revenue in its first three months of operation.
The Free Beacon reported that the funds were part of $20 billion recovered by former Congressman Lee Zeldin, and somehow, Power Forward Communities—a virtually non-existent entity—secured a staggering $2 billion of it.
🚨Stacey Abrams’ Power Forward Communities received $2 BILLION to be a pass through entity for Biden EPA’s $20 billion “gold bar” scheme.
They reported just $100 in total revenue after their founding in late 2023.

The question every American should be asking is: how does a newly formed organization with almost no financial history land a multi-billion-dollar government payout? Conveniently, the group’s ties to Abrams seem to have played a crucial role in this absurd cash grab.
As Democrats continue to whine about “money in politics” and pretend to be the guardians of election integrity, their own operations are drowning in ethical scandals and suspicious financial dealings.
Abrams’ nonprofit is just the latest example of how the left plays by its own corrupt rules while pointing fingers at everyone else.
