The Harris-Walz campaign is reportedly in damage control mode following what many are calling a disastrous interview with Fox News.

Kamala Harris, who has largely avoided television and podcast interviews throughout the campaign cycle, has recently ramped up her media appearances.

This strategy aligns with an internal memo obtained by the New York Times, which indicated that the lack of interviews for both Harris and gubernatorial candidate Tim Walz has negatively impacted their campaign.

On Wednesday, Harris stepped outside her comfort zone to engage in a tough interview with Fox News host Bret Baier.

During the discussion, Baier posed challenging questions regarding her record, her support for President Biden’s policies, and the campaign’s failure to outline clear policy goals.

At one point, he pointed to a recent Marquette University poll indicating that 70 percent of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track. “More than 70 percent of people tell the country is on the wrong track. They say the country is on the wrong track. If it’s on the wrong track, that track follows three and a half years of you being vice president and President Biden being president. That is what they’re saying,” Baier noted.

He questioned Harris, asking, “Why are they saying that? If you’re turning the page, you’ve been in office for three-and-a-half years.”

Harris did not address the question directly and instead pivoted to attacking her Republican rival. “And Donald Trump has been running for office…” she responded, leading Baier to reiterate that she is part of the current administration.

The exchange took a bizarre turn when Harris stated, “You and I both know what I’m talking about.” Baier responded, “I actually don’t. What are you talking about?”

Harris then shifted the topic to Republican policies over the past decade.

Harris also claimed that Trump would arrest his political opponents while her administration has jailed nearly 2,000 Americans for protesting the 2020 election and is pursuing charges against their leading political rival.

Throughout the interview, her tendency to deflect questions in favor of attacking Trump became a recurring theme.

When Baier pointed out that Harris had previously called Trump “misguided” and “unstable,” she reiterated, “He is unstable, Bret.”

Baier followed up by asking when she first noticed any diminished mental faculties in Joe Biden. Harris defended Biden, stating, “Joe Biden, I have watched him from the Oval Office to the Situation Room and he has the judgment and the experience to make very important decisions on behalf of the American people.” She insisted that she had no concerns about Biden’s cognitive abilities.

On the subject of illegal immigration, Harris fell back on the campaign’s standard narrative, blaming record-breaking immigration numbers on House Republicans.

She claimed that the U.S. Senate had agreed to a “bipartisan border deal” that was thwarted by Trump.

However, the proposed Senate bill would have allowed up to 10,000 illegal aliens a day and included substantial funding for non-governmental organizations and expedited asylum claims.

Baier interjected during her discussion of the border crisis, noting that even six Democrats voted against the proposed “deal.” “Six Democrats voted against that bill. It would have allowed 1.8 million illegal immigrants into the country a year. A lot of conservatives had a problem with it,” Baier remarked.

The interview has raised questions about the effectiveness of the Harris-Walz campaign strategy and their ability to connect with voters.

After the interview aired, Bret Baier revealed that four of Kamala’s staffers were ‘waving their hands like it’s gotta stop.’
