Stefanik Sounds the Alarm [WATCH]

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) criticized New York Democratic leadership on Saturday, accusing top officials of allowing the “Marxist-communist wing” of their party to become mainstream following the Democratic primary victory of socialist candidate Zohran Mamdani in the 2025 New York City mayoral race.

Speaking on Fox News’s Life, Liberty & Levin, Stefanik addressed the implications of Mamdani’s primary win and pointed directly to the involvement of prominent Democrats in the state, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

“Both Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries voted in this primary, and yet they have refused to condemn the radical and dangerous statements made by Zohran Mamdani,” Stefanik said.

“They are complicit in allowing the Marxist-communist wing of the Democrat Party to become mainstream.”

Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist and current state assemblyman, emerged as the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City earlier this month.

His candidacy has drawn criticism for prior statements and policy positions, including his support for defunding police and radical economic reforms.

“So New Yorkers are looking for common sense,” Stefanik continued.

“They are looking for strong leadership, strong moral leadership, strong economic leadership. We do not want to continue to exacerbate the mass exodus that has occurred from New York state and specifically New York City under radical single-party Democrat rule that has failed the hard-working families of my great state.”

Stefanik also rebuked New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) for what she described as failed leadership that enabled Mamdani’s rise.

“It’s Hochul’s failed leadership that paved the way for ‘Commie-Mamdani’ to become the Democratic Party’s standard-bearer for mayor of New York City,” Stefanik said.

The congresswoman and the governor also clashed last week over the issue of the Epstein documents.

Following the public release of files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Hochul accused Stefanik of seeking to help President Donald Trump “cover it up.”

Stefanik responded by pointing the finger back at the governor.

“Governor Hochul has files to release herself,” Stefanik said.

“New Yorkers want the truth from the Worst Governor in America.”

Stefanik has continued to gain national attention and recently hinted at a potential campaign for New York governor in the 2026 midterm elections.

Her fundraising numbers have added fuel to the speculation.

In the second quarter of 2025, Stefanik raised $4 million, setting new personal and state records. She now holds $11 million in campaign funds on hand.

Her growing political profile has made her a leading figure among Republicans in New York and a frequent critic of state Democratic leadership.

As the 2025 New York City mayoral race begins to take shape, Mamdani’s nomination has signaled a shift in the Democratic Party’s urban base.

While Mamdani’s supporters have praised his progressive platform, critics like Stefanik have warned that such policies could deepen the problems already facing New York City, including rising crime, population loss, and economic instability.
