Actress Kristen Stewart said Americans should consider changing their consumer habits, including potentially refraining from buying burgers during the daytime, as a form of protest against the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
The comments came after Stewart was asked, “What would break your heart if it disappeared from LA?”
The “Twilight” actress responded, “immigrants,” before elaborating at length on her concerns about immigration enforcement in Los Angeles.
Here’s What They’re Not Telling You About Your Retirement
“I, I can’t stand the idea that the dismantling of the culture that did have a hand in, like, making me who I am, which is so meaningless in the face of people’s lives being, like, completely unearthed, uprooted, destroyed, like, just the, this is, this is, like, not who we are,” Stewart said.
She continued by describing her sense of disconnection from what she views as current policy decisions.
“So, like, where I’m from, I don’t identify with that right now. And so like, I, I, I, I, I definitely am dying every day thinking, so do we make movies about this? Do we throw all of our money at it?” Stewart said.
Stewart then raised the idea of a consumer boycott as a potential response.

“Do we stop buying burgers in the daytime? What do we do about this?” she asked.
She added, “Like it, I can’t, I can’t fathom that it’s happening until it doesn’t happen. It’s like Los Angeles doesn’t exist without all of us.”
Stewart’s remarks come as the federal government has intensified immigration enforcement efforts across several major cities, including Los Angeles.
The Trump administration has emphasized stricter border controls and interior enforcement as part of its broader immigration policy.
The actress did not specify how refraining from purchasing burgers during the daytime would affect immigration policy, nor did she outline additional details about the proposed action.
Her comments were made in the context of discussing the cultural makeup of Los Angeles and the impact of immigration enforcement on local communities.
Stewart, who rose to prominence with the “Twilight” film franchise and later starred in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” has previously spoken out on social and political issues.
Her latest remarks add to a series of public statements by entertainment figures addressing immigration enforcement and related policies.
As of now, no organized campaign connected to Stewart’s suggestion has been announced, and there has been no official response from federal officials regarding her comments.
