A single-vehicle crash on Long Island early Sunday morning left three people dead after their SUV burst into flames following a collision with a tree, according to local authorities, as reported by The New York Post.

The fatal incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Mother’s Day near Bethpage State Park. Police said the occupants were traveling in a 2022 Dodge Durango when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree head-on.

The SUV immediately caught fire, killing all three individuals inside.

Emergency crews from the Bethpage Fire Department responded quickly and extinguished the flames within five minutes of arriving on the scene. Despite their efforts, all three victims were pronounced dead at the site.

A car burns in the 300 block of Baltzley Valley Rd SE, in Goshen Township after crashing. The vehicle apparently was heading south on Baltzley Valley Rd SE, lost control just after Ridge Rd NE, and crashed into the tree line on the opposite side of the road, according to officials.

Police have not yet released the names of those killed in the crash. The cause of the incident remains under investigation, and no other vehicles were involved.

Authorities have not commented on whether speed, impairment, or road conditions may have contributed to the crash.

This marks one of several deadly traffic incidents on Long Island in recent weeks. Law enforcement officials are urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours.
