Tapper: ‘This is Why You F***ers Are Losing Elections’

Jake Tapper has been making the rounds lately to promote his book and earlier this month he recorded a podcast with Scott Galloway. If that name sounds familiar, David wrote about him back in February when he was calling for DOGE employees to be arrested.

Putting that aside, Galloway did have a pretty interesting interview with Tapper about the book and toward the end he was doing some musing about what has gone so very wrong for Democrats and what they can do to fix it. Specifically, he suggested to Tapper that the party had a real problem connecting to men, who he said were struggling more than other groups at this moment in time.

“At the Democratic National Convention, I saw a parade of special interest groups addressing the very real concerns and issues still facing a lot of these groups, but I didn’t see one person talk about or even acknowledge the struggle of the group I believe has fallen furthest fastest in American and that’s young men,” Galloway said.

He continued, “Four times as likely to kill themselves, three times likely to be addicted, 12 times likely to be incarcerated.

“I believe the Democratic Party may have lost the election because they refused to acknowledge…the issues facing young men in this country. And that we drastically need to move away from identity politics and focus on the folks that are really facing the most headwinds in our society right now.”

After a response from co-author Alex Thompson, Tapper stepped up and told a story about his son.

“My son is now 15 years old, and he’s a gamer. He’s a football fan, starting linebacker on his varsity football team. The Democratic Party has no way of communicating with him. They have no entree into his world,” Tapper said during a discussion on the Democratic Party’s struggles to reach young men.

He immediately went on to tell this story about a previous interview on a left-leaning podcast. “They asked me about my son and I said he’s a football player and he wants to be a policeman,” he said.

“Their joke was about my 15-year-old son, ‘Oh, how does he feel about minorities?’ Like the idea that he wants to be a policeman, therefore he’s, he’s racist, my son. And like, you know, that was the big laugh. And then I got dragged in the comments and all that stuff and, and I thought to myself, ‘This is why you fuckers are losing elections,’” Tapper said…

“He’s 15. He thinks about World War II and gaming and playing linebacker, that’s his world,” Tapper said about his son. “You’re deciding he’s a racist because he wants to be a cop. And why does he want to be a cop? He wants to be a cop because he wants to help people, you know, and he thinks that’s the best way he can help people. And that’s how the Democratic Party talks to men, not just white men, but men.”

Here’s that bit of the interview:

🔥 Jake Tapper learns the hard way: Democrats call his son racist for wanting to be a cop.

No wonder parents are turning away!@jaketapper “…the idea that my son wants to be a policeman, therefore, he’s racist. That was the big laugh.

Tapper didn’t name the podcast in question but people pretty quickly figured out it was the How Long Gone podcast which Tapper had been on in April. Here’s how that exchange went.

‘So my son is 15, and I understand why Democrats are are struggling so much,’ he said.

‘Because they just don’t speak any language that my son speaks.’

‘Uh, he likes police,’ Tapper added, with both hosts expressing disbelief.

‘Like, I don’t understand – like, what about a cop?’ asked Black.

‘He likes the military. He likes police,’ Tapper replied. ‘I don’t know.’

‘How does he feel about minorities?’ Stewart pressed.

‘He’s… he’s pro,’ Tapper answered.

The hosts of that podcast have since responded to being called out by Tapper on the Galloway podcast.

Right off the bat, Black brought up the comments made on their show that Tapper is now outraged about, praising Stewart for telling a “really f*cking funny joke” about whether Tapper’s son liked minorities because he wants to be a cop.

“I know I’ve told you this before, but that’s some of the best material you’ve ever that I’ve ever heard from you in our… 15-year friendship,” Black added, prompting Stewart to reply: “Thank you for that. It was a fun question to ask.”

Adding that Tapper’s answer about his son being “pro” minority was also “equally fun” and “timed perfectly in the comedic sense,” the two hosts spent the next few minutes essentially making fun of the sudden controversy over the April 2 segment.

“I think this is pretty funny and ridiculous and I’m like, I don’t think that his quote about him getting dragged in the comments – we don’t have comments, so I don’t know where he’s getting dragged necessarily,” Black noted, pointing out that the podcast doesn’t have a comments section.

So there’s probably more than one thing going on here. Scott Galloway is no prize but he has a point about how Democrats treat men. The hosts of How Long Gone seem way too amused with themselves and their joke about Tapper’s son wasn’t very funny. At best it was blindingly obvious clapper material for the left. And Tapper is maybe a bit more offended in retrospect than he let on in the moment.

And yet, Tapper has a point here too. The people who think becoming a police officer is a set up for a joke are people who’ve imbibed the idea from BLM and others that police are mostly notable as a threat to minorities, not as figures who routinely help people in trouble and do their best to keep the streets safe. It’s a joke that only works inside the progressive bubble and yes, that smug bubble is a big part of why those f-ers are losing elections.
