Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce are engaged, the couple announced Tuesday.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” Swift shared Tuesday on Instagram.
Photos accompanying the post showed Kelce on one knee as Swift caressed his face during the proposal.

The engagement follows a highly public relationship that began privately in 2023 and went public during the NFL season.

Swift and Kelce first appeared together in headlines after she was spotted at a Chiefs game on Sept. 24, 2023.
In an interview with TIME magazine, Swift later clarified that the relationship started before that appearance.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said.
“We started hanging out right after that. So, we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
She added, “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”
Their engagement comes 13 days after Swift announced her upcoming album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.
The announcement tied the pop star’s music calendar to the program where their story first drew widespread attention.
Kelce’s initial public overture occurred months earlier.
In July 2023, he recounted on “New Heights” that he attended The Eras Tour stop in Kansas City and wanted to participate in a fan tradition by giving Swift a bracelet.
“If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it,” Kelce told his brother, Jason.
That moment, he has said, set the stage for what followed.
Swift also described her thinking as the relationship began to develop.
Taylor Swift: “I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
The couple later chose to speak together about their early conversations and first meetings.
Appearing on Kelce’s podcast on Aug. 13, they talked through how their paths crossed and why they decided to reveal more of the backstory.
When asked why she joined the show, Swift said, “This podcast got me a boyfriend ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app.”
During that joint appearance, Swift described how Kelce’s persistence looked from her side.
“This dude didn’t get a meet-and-greet, and he’s making it everyone’s problem. That’s what I thought at first… You realize he didn’t even reach out to our management. He came with Pat [Mahomes] and he thought that, because he knows the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.”
Kelce said Swift’s music itself helped him understand how to approach her.
“I was sitting there at the Eras Tour listening to every single one of those songs, being like, ‘I know exactly what she wants me to do,’” he said.
“I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
Swift acknowledged that the approach was unconventional but effective.
She called the effort “wild,” and added, “I’m glad it worked.”
The pair’s public timeline features NFL appearances, award shows, and tour stops, but both have emphasized the months they spent getting to know each other out of the spotlight.
Swift has typically kept details of her relationships private, offering only limited comments even as interest grew during the Chiefs’ 2023 season and The Eras Tour’s continued run.
Kelce’s podcast became a recurring venue for light-hearted references to the relationship and later for more substantive details.
Tuesday’s announcement places the relationship on a new footing with a clear next step.
