Colt Gray, the 15-year-old accused of killing four people in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia, appeared in court Tuesday with a sharply different look from the appearance seen in earlier photos released after his arrest, as reported by The New York Post.
Gray, who is charged as an adult, arrived in handcuffs wearing a quarter-zip sweater, collared shirt, khakis, and glasses, along with newly trimmed, slicked-back dark brown hair.
His previous look featured long, disheveled, bleached orange hair that fell below his shoulders.
https://t.co/YPeSxhMAAE. This is an old defense attorney, tactic, and trick! Make your dirtbag client look as presentable and innocent as possible. I hope it doesn’t work for this killer.

Attorney Aisha Broderick, appointed to represent Gray in October, told the court that the defense is still waiting for completion of a medical evaluation that will influence upcoming motions and the overall direction of the case.
According to CBS Atlanta, the evaluation is expected to be completed by the end of February.

Gray’s previous attorney, Alfonso D. Kraft, had indicated in May to Barrow County Superior Court Judge Nick Primm that the teen was moving toward pleading guilty after meeting with a psychologist.

“We should be good to go,” Kraft said at that hearing. It remains unclear why the defendant changed legal representation.
Gray, then 14, was indicted on 55 counts connected to the Sept. 4, 2024, shooting that killed two teachers and two students.
The victims were educators Richard “Ricky” Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53, along with students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14.

Another teacher and eight additional students were injured, seven of whom were struck by gunfire.
Grand jurors also charged Gray’s father, Colin Gray, alleging he gifted his son an AR-15-style rifle for Christmas — the same weapon investigators say was used in the shooting.
Colin Gray faces 29 counts, including two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of involuntary manslaughter, along with additional charges of cruelty to children.
He faces up to 180 years in prison if convicted. Colt Gray faces up to life in prison but cannot receive the death penalty due to his age.
Charles Polhamus, the alleged gunman’s maternal grandfather, previously criticized his former son-in-law in comments to The Post.
“Spending 11 years with that son of a bitch screaming and hollering every day — it can affect anybody,” Polhamus, 81, said.
Referring to Colin Gray, he added, “He’s evil.” Polhamus also said of the family, “They couldn’t, they didn’t survive in it.”
Investigators testified that the younger Gray brought the rifle onto the school bus with the barrel wrapped in poster board.
He allegedly left his second-period class, entered a bathroom, and emerged firing into a classroom and hallway in the 1,900-student school.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation Agent Kelsey Ward also testified that Gray kept a “shrine” to school shooters above his home computer.
Gray is scheduled to return to court on March 18.
