Nature used to be a prestigious journal, and deservedly so. Now it is, as with so many elite institutions, still prestigious, but undeservedly so. It, along with its subsidiary Nature-Springer, which publishes hundreds of scientific journals, is no longer concerned with the quality of the science it publishes and focuses on pleasing the commissars.
Elite institutions have been ideologically captured because, as with everything elite, they are downstream from the headwaters from which most prestige flows: academia. As academia became captured by Critical Theory, everything else has been as well, including science.
The result is clear: the descent into modern Lysenkoism–ideology and prestige-seeking over the search for truth or achieving practical results that benefit others.
Here was my original discussion on the chat board that ultimately requested an investigation into how a woefully unqualified DEI figure was placed as chief editor. pic.twitter.com/Fj3KGvD9wc

Springer-Nature’s journal dedicated to obstetrics is called “Pregnancy and Childbirth,” and it just hired a woman with no research experience and credentials from an online university to be the Lead Editor. She has not published a single research paper, and the thesis she wrote to get her diploma mill Ph.D. was entirely on racism, not pregnancy or childbirth.
When a member of Springer-Nature’s Editorial Board brought this fact up and pointed out that her sole qualification was that she was a black woman, they relieved him of his duties.
Marchand is an obstetrician who also teaches at medical schools. He has invented several surgical techniques, so he knows a thing or two about pregnancy and childbirth. The new “Lead Editor?” Her “research” is in DEI.
It would be unsurprising to have the journal publish a research paper from Franklin–assuming it was research on pregnancy and/or childbirth–and it would not be out of bounds for questions of race or racism to be a topic of inquiry. There is no reason to believe that nurses with practical experience don’t have valuable contributions to make in the medical field, and race is obviously a variable worthy of study.
But Franklin has no research experience at all, and the idea that she would make a competent editor of a prestigious journal is absurd. A recent Ph.D. from an online diploma mill is only valuable because Springer Nature wanted to put a black woman as the face of the journal. That’s it.
This isn’t the first time I have written about the decline of Nature. As you may recall, Anthony Fauci used the journal as his personal propaganda tool, arranging for the publication of the “Proximal Origins” paper, debunking” the lab leak theory with a fraudulent paper. And the journal is now all in on Critical Theory, arguing that science is a racist institution.
The editors of Nature have become political activists, abhorring science and embracing left-leaning politics as a superior source of truth.
In this context, assuming a wise black woman is a superior researcher–despite having done no research–makes sense. Objective research is racist, after all.
Critical Theory is a modern tool of Marxism, and it is everywhere. It has become the gospel of the elite, and it is destroying the foundations of the West. That is its explicit goal, of course–that is what “decolonization” means.
This makes everything coming out of scientific institutions suspect, not because science itself is suspect, but because producing science is no longer the goal of scientific institutions.
David Burge captured the strategy of Marxists who chose to go down the “Long March of the Institutions.” Capture the respected institutions and acquire the prestige they earned in order to destroy them from within.
We all hold science in high regard because it has helped us build the modern world. Now, “science” has been captured, with the goal of bringing that world down.
