At least three teenagers were killed and 14 others injured when shots were fired during a car show at Young Park in Las Cruces, New Mexico, late Friday night, officials reported.
The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the park, located 45 miles north of El Paso. Las Cruces police responded to the scene, where they discovered multiple gunshot victims.
The police department confirmed that the majority of the victims were transported to local hospitals, calling the event a “mass shooting” on social media.

The three fatalities include two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy, though their names have not been released by authorities at this time. The injured individuals range in age from 16 to 36 years old.
Las Cruces City Councilor and Mayor Pro Tem Johana Bencomos expressed her grief over the incident, stating in an Instagram post, “Honestly, nowadays a tragedy like this feels like a nightmare just waiting to come true at any possible moment, yet also always praying and hoping it never will. This was a heinous act of violence that will leave our city mourning.”

The shooting took place during a monthly car meet at the park, a gathering typically attended by modified sports car enthusiasts.
The event, which drew about 200 people, turned chaotic when an altercation reportedly broke out just before the gunfire erupted.

Witnesses described seeing a man with what appeared to be an assault-style weapon moments before the shooting began.
“They just started shooting and they just started running around everybody,” said Angel Legaspy, a 20-year-old attendee whose parked car was hit by bullets.
He recalled how the gunfire spread “all over the place.”
Manuel Urbina, a visitor from Wyoming, described the panic that followed the shooting. “People were running everywhere,” he said.
“We all started to run, and then I saw a young man laid out on the ground.”
As of now, the suspect or suspects remain at large, and police have not provided any information on a potential motive for the attack.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have captured video footage of the incident to submit it as evidence, which they hope will help with the investigation and shed light on the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The surrounding area, including the park, has been closed off as police continue their investigation into the mass shooting.
The Las Cruces Police Department has not yet released further details but is actively working to piece together evidence to identify those responsible.
