Trump pledged to “keep TikTok from going dark” during a statement earlier in the day, and the Chinese-owned social media platform confirmed its service restoration shortly thereafter.

In a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), TikTok expressed gratitude for Trump’s involvement in resolving the issue.

“We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing over 7 million small businesses to thrive,” TikTok Policy wrote.

The statement continued, “It’s a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. We will work with President Trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the United States.”

STATEMENT FROM TIKTOK:

In agreement with our service providers, TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will face no penalties providing TikTok to over 170…

Delighted TikTok users quickly took to other social media platforms to share that they had regained access to their accounts.

The resolution came as a relief to millions of Americans who use the platform for entertainment, small business promotion, and creative expression.

President Trump is expected to issue an executive order on Monday to solidify the arrangement and prevent any further interruptions to TikTok’s service.

His decision aligns with his promise to protect free speech and ensure the app’s continued operation within the United States.

The move comes after months of uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future, with concerns about data security and the app’s Chinese ownership leading to legislative and regulatory challenges.

Trump’s intervention appears to have provided the necessary assurances to service providers, allowing TikTok to avoid a potential shutdown.

TikTok has faced significant scrutiny in the United States over its ties to its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

Lawmakers and security experts have raised concerns about potential data collection by the Chinese government, prompting calls for the app to either be banned or sold to an American entity.

While previous administrations had pushed for a resolution, Trump’s decisive action has averted an immediate crisis, ensuring that TikTok remains operational while discussions over its long-term future continue.

With TikTok back online, the platform and the Trump administration are expected to work toward a sustainable agreement that addresses security concerns while protecting the app’s millions of American users.

Details of the executive order to be issued Monday are yet to be released, but Trump’s intervention has already been praised by advocates for free speech and small business owners who rely on TikTok as a critical tool.

As TikTok resumes normal operations, its future in the U.S. remains a topic of significant interest, with Trump’s actions playing a pivotal role in shaping its path forward.
