Hope Walz, daughter of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), drew widespread backlash over the weekend after releasing a viral TikTok video in which she claimed President Donald Trump would have deported Jesus Christ and compared the treatment of illegal immigrants, including MS-13 gang members, to that of the biblical figure.

In the video, Walz criticized the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies, accusing them of operating without proper legal procedure.

“If Jesus were alive today and in the United States, this administration would already have taken him and removed him from this country without due process,” Walz said.

“They would have claimed he was a member of the MS-13 gang as a way to try to justify not giving him due process — as if there is any justifiable reason to not give somebody due process.”

The 24-year-old continued by expressing disbelief at what she viewed as public support for such policies.

“But yeah, some people don’t want to talk about that. It truly is baffling how clear and laid out everything is, and there is still people standing by it,” she said.

“I believe in the good of people and humanity, humans, deep down at our core, we care about each other.”

Tim Walz’s daughter appears to compare alleged MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia to Jesus, says Trump would have deported Jesus for being a gang member.

The comments come as the Trump administration faces continued pushback from left-leaning activists over its efforts to remove violent criminal illegal aliens from the United States, including confirmed gang members.

At the center of this controversy is Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national whom the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified as a member of the violent MS-13 gang.

According to DHS records, Abrego Garcia was arrested in 2019 in connection with drugs, cash, and gang-related clothing.

Further documentation includes a 2022 traffic stop in Tennessee, during which Abrego Garcia was found transporting eight individuals who had no luggage and claimed to be headed to construction jobs. Law enforcement flagged the incident as potentially related to human trafficking.

Additional court filings reveal that Abrego Garcia’s wife filed for an order of protection against him in 2021, citing domestic violence.

The information counters recent efforts by some on the left to portray Abrego Garcia as a sympathetic figure targeted unfairly by immigration enforcement.

On Friday, President Donald Trump released a photograph from the Oval Office that showed the knuckle tattoos of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, which law enforcement officials say are consistent with MS-13 gang affiliation.

The image was published to reinforce the administration’s stance that individuals like Garcia pose a threat to public safety and national security.

Governor Walz has not commented on his daughter’s video or whether he supports the comparison made between Jesus and known violent gang members.

The White House has not responded to Hope Walz’s remarks, though the video continues to circulate widely across social media platforms.

The controversy comes at a time when the administration is defending its use of the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expedite the deportation of individuals designated as affiliated with foreign terrorist organizations, including MS-13. The policy is part of President Trump’s broader immigration enforcement agenda announced after returning to office in January.
