A state government employee in Minnesota has been arrested after allegedly vandalizing multiple Tesla vehicles, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage.

The incidents occurred over a series of days in recent weeks and were captured on vehicle surveillance cameras.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Dylan Bryan Adams, works as a fiscal policy analyst for the State of Minnesota.

According to reports first highlighted by the Daily Mail and shared by the Minnesota-based public safety account @CrimeWatchMpls on X, Adams was taken into custody after being observed on camera scratching parked Teslas with a key while walking his dog in a Minneapolis neighborhood.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Adams approaching various parked Tesla vehicles, pulling a key from his pocket, and dragging it across the paint.

In one video, he appears to cross the street to approach a vehicle before allegedly carving into the rear panel.

In another clip, he can be seen targeting the side of a Tesla adjacent to the sidewalk.

Authorities have not yet released a formal statement regarding charges, but Adams was arrested on suspicion of felony-level property damage.

The total estimated damage from the multiple incidents is approximately $20,000.

Adams is employed within Governor Tim Walz’s administration.

His role as a fiscal policy analyst places him in a position involving state budget matters and economic policy.

The arrest comes amid heightened rhetoric directed at Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, from various political figures, including recent public criticism by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

Over the past several weeks, Walz has made several statements critical of Musk and Tesla while speaking at public events and to political audiences.

Governor Walz has not commented publicly on Adams’ arrest or the allegations against the state employee.

The footage of the incidents has circulated widely on social media, prompting questions about motive and political influence.

While there is currently no public statement linking Adams’ actions directly to any political commentary, the timing of the events and the identity of the vehicles targeted have generated attention.

Tesla, one of the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers, has frequently been at the center of political and public discourse due to its CEO’s positions on government policy, media, and free speech.

Musk, who moved Tesla’s headquarters to Texas in 2021, has also been outspoken about government regulation, COVID-era lockdowns, and energy policy.

As of now, no disciplinary actions have been announced by the State of Minnesota regarding Adams’ employment status.

State officials have not issued a formal response to media inquiries regarding the incident or potential implications for the administration.

The case remains under investigation, and formal charges are expected to be announced following review by the local district attorney’s office.
